Is 2600x compatible with RTX 2070/ RX 5700XT?

Hello,

I'm doing my first gaming build (1440p) and have decided to go for a 2070 or 5700XT GPU.

For the CPU I originally planned for a ryzen 3600, however, because of a local deal I can get my hands on a 2600x for €80.

Will the 2600x be enough, or will it cause too much bottlenecking? I want the build to be somewhat future-proof (2-3yrs)

It will be fine. Most reviews show the 1440p gaming performance between the 3600 vs 2600x as as 3 to 5% difference.

In terms of future proof it should be fine. If anything once the new games engines roll out in 2021 these type of processors should be better utilized. Most modern games our running on 2015/2016 era engines meaning you don't get a huge boost with higher core count.

for those 2 cards? no a 2600x wouldn't be a bottleneck, though might be closer to the limit of them.
if you planning on keeping the video card for the 2 years, the 2600x would be fine.
besides at 1440p the limit is more on the video card then the cpu most of the time anyway.

Do you have a high refresh monitor?

You can save some on the 5700XT by grabbing a 5700 and then ask me to help do a bios flash or ask @R-T-B about Power Play Tables.

A 2700X and a 3600 are about the same. I would pair it with a X470 motherboard from AsRock

I don't have any of the parts yet. Still haven't decided on the monitor but I don't think I'll be going for high refresh monitor.

I might be able to get a 5700xt for €325 rn. If that doesn't work I will consider a 5700.

Don't know anything about bios flashing. Is it stable? And does it require an extra GPU cooler?

If you have the money buy the 3600. If you end up with high refresh, buy the 3600. Else, the 2600 will be fine for 2 years or so.

I have the 2700X and a 5700XT, and I have no trouble, even with a few 4K titles. Clocks are close, you just have 2 fewer cores.

You'll be fine. That's a great CPU and more than enough to power your GPU of choice for the next few years.

BTW, welcome to the forums! Don't be a stranger!
