I just built for the first time a gaming PC. It has a Ryzen 5 3600 with a GTX 1660 Super. It’s all on a MSI B450 PRO-VDH Max motherboard. Here is the rest of the parts I have —> https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hxxBHB. The computer turns on and the fans spin up and TGB and everything but I am not getting any type of output display. I’ve tried HDMI and VGA and nothing has worked. I’ve tripled checked my power and wires and everything plugged in and I’m not sure why I’m not getting a display

Time to do a bit of diagnostics: Can you confirm that both your monitor and cables are both working fine?
Yes they are I took it straight from my previous PC which I was using it on.

The top things that come to my mind for first time builders is:
DId you plug the monitor into the GPU or the motherboard?
Did you make sure to plug in the PCIe power connectors into the GPU?
That motherboard has debug LEDs on the top right corner of the board. If any of the hardware were having issues you'd see one of those light up.

I plugged the monitor into the motherboard not the GPU.
The PCIe GPU is plugged up with appropriate power from the PSU.
I have seen that and when I start it it goes through some LED’s but stays on “Boot” for a minute or so then goes off

You will need to connect the monitor to the GPU not motherboard. Give that a try.

Plug your monitor into your GPU and restart the PC. I thought it might be this, one of the most common mistakes I see but very easy to fix.
