Hi ,
I have changed my GPU thermal paste in a store ,on july of 2019 , by that time the temps on stress tests (aida 64 stability test and heaven ) and usually won´t go higher than 75ºc to 78º c , now on last months it´s been having higher temps up to 85ºc . My gpu is a XFX RX 580 GTS XXX 4gb , from what I´ve read this card seems to be a hot card from the factory anyway .

The dust on the computer is almost nothing , the temperatures on the rest of the components is perfect ... the gpu is very close to 90ºc that by the msi afterburner is the limit temperature , anyway during most of the games it does not reach to 80´s .

I wish to know if there´s any need to change the thermal paste? or the colling solution will not going to be any better? or my temps are about normal?

I have a custom fan curve on MSI Afterburner that I will let here .

While changing the paste usually isn't necessary and shouldn't "go off" seeing as you've done it once rather recently I don't see any harm in redoing it seeing as you know how and see if it improves your temperatures, you've done pretty much everything else right like custom fan curves and dust check etc.

thank you , yeah it´s possible that i will change it again then ...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. PC hardware works better when left untouched.

There is no need to reapply thermal paste just after one year.

There is always a chance you'll damage something in the process.

Just remove hair and dust and call it a day.

The thing is that there's almost no dust .
Thanks for your answer , as it so close to the temp limit it scares me a bit .

True.

Not true..

@Noobpcbuilder
If you think there might be a problem with the previous application of TIM, it will not hurt to redo it and double check your work. Just take your time and be careful.
The paste was changed in a store , because the GPU was shutting down . On that time the temps really have dropped by like 10°c or more ... Even the store on that day said that the previous application was bad , the graphic card was bought second hand.
I think I can open a GPU and change it anyway . I have some confidence opening laptops and phones , so changing the TIM on a GPU should not be harder .. well but maybe I could do That later , I just have some fear that could be too late ..

Sounds like a change in ambient temperature. If you're in the northern hemisphere then it's coming up to summer now.

its not going to hurt changing it if you know what your doing, hows the airflow in your case ?, that card is a warm one, you could limit the frame rate in the Radeon Adrenalin softwear it should reduce the temp a bit.

I changed the paste on my RX 480 nitro. Temp was high and noise were horrible, some dust. Hitting high 70ties at over 2000rpm which is load. I disasembled and noticed that cooling paste had dried out. Put on some Kryonaut. Now fans is of when not gaming and spinning at 800-1300 and temps at 55-60C while gaming.

That’s all pretty much been rolled into Chill but it’s doing pretty much exactly that also adjusting clock speeds as well to maintain performance/thermals balance.

The airflow is good , the other temperatures are fine and it's been the same since the build was made . I always play games at 60 fps on max , I don't need more .
I will change the thermal paste then

Or cheap thermal paste that dry up fast.
What paste should I use , I usually use the coolermaster master gel maker for CPU's , should be good for this GPU ?

If your comfortable opening it up to check i think its worth a look. Does the card have a aftermarket cooler already? If not that could be worth looking into. Also it seems like your case has the ability for quite a few fans, perhaps look at adding a few more?

I have all four fans ,2 front ,1 top , 1 back . Only not on the side .and the card have the stock cooler

well I changed the thermal paste , and what a result ! from 85 ºc on aida 64 stability test to 70ºc !
despite everything I had a problem on the way .... it seems that the fan connector on the PCB was loose, and one of the pins was almost out of the PCB, I don't know if it was my fault or that of the previous owner since the board is used . but still after disassembling and assembling the GPU 3 times I managed to push the pin down with a plastic tool and the fans started working again! it was a relief, I thought I ruined everything in that part! I'm still a little worried, I don't know how long this connector will last!
well but now everything is fine, and minus 15ºc! I'm surprised, I hope it stays that way for a long time!
overall i think i am proud of my work for the 1st time i open a GPU , I know is not that hard but anyway.
