so I was thinking to upgrade at the end of the year my r9-290x (buyed back in the day in jan 2014 that still had served me well for a lots of games)

since november im playing the new cod like every evening and while on the first I was good, recently while i started playing warzone not the mp (the mp goes around 180/190 and its fine for me) mode the fps drop are very very poor like 80/90 outside and in house are 100/120.... Im playing the game at 900p resolution and all settings on low.
my monitor is the benq xl2540 I buyed it because i was playing bo2 zombie and mw2 and both game on my 290x on maxed setting were keeping extremely good at 240fps locked and settings high or med-high.... other games i used to play them on my full hd 60hz tv so the 290x was fine too, thats why i didnt upgrade in all those years.......

my question is : what gpu I need to make 240+Fps at 1080p resolution? No need of settings to be high or something, I will keep playing all on low, cause i fell better with low settings I see better the enemy.

I am seriously taking idea to buy a 2080ti used for 800€ but I think like im wasting money? maybe a 5700xt will do the same things?

my budget is the lower possible, but need really a good and stable fps

sincerely I cant wait anymore for sept to amd to roll out their new gpu, I need a new gpu now, maybe when they will roll out those new gpu will sell my gpu and buy one of those, so I can keep them for a lot of time again like I did with this 290x....

you'll get cpu bottleneck well before that
it's possible with a 2080Ti but this guy is runnikg at 9900KS and 4133mhz ram, your will fall way short of that
and 120hz ulmb is better anyway IMO

my cpu is the i7-6800k i have it oc to 4.2 , think its still good, sincerely dont want upgrade it, I've seen the difference compared to a 3700x or something like that, it seem a different of 10-20fps so Imma keep it for another pair of years sincerely, its still a good cpu, dont wanna bother change it.

maybe will change with new intel 7nm gen or something like ryzen 4 at good clock.

yes it's good (very good imo since it's a 6c broadwell paired with QC ) but to deliver steady 240 fps, man, this is out of reach for 99% cpus out there

here's a test if you wanna see how it stacks up against 8700K.not a new one but will give you a good idea what this cpu's good and bad points are.very good multithread performance, single thread is not up there with coffee lake though

lol, that dont seem a lot of different its like 13fps difference XD

I just need a new gpu, my question were different:
what gpu I need to buy to play cod at 240+fps on low ? Im wasting money spending on 2080ti ? will a 5700xt do the same job? consider also my cpu.....what you think?

p.s. cpu usage on cod is like 30/40 and its fine, my cpu is still good for this game.

and thats hitman, Im looking to play cod 2019 , not hitman.

well, this 13 fps is almost 20% from 8700k running 2133 ram, more than that in min. fps

I posted the video,2080Ti can do that but with a powerhorse of a cpu and super fast ram.yeah you'll get low cpu usage on a game like that no matter what but your gpu won't be working at 100% even in the video he's not getting max usage with 9900ks

cpu bottleneck is inevitable yea, I have 3000 cl16 ram btw

so you still didnt answer to my question, is a 5700xt good enough to get 240fps on all on low ? should I consider something like 2080 or just go with 2080ti, and in future upgrade my cpu?

I would prefer a 3700x instead of 9900k or 10900k sincerely, better price/performance, and maybe oc it to something like 4ghz......

I did.
I posted the video with 2080Ti which dips into 240/250s on 9900ks on 4133mhz ram
5700xt on 6800k will not even reach that avg. fps. 2080Ti is 1.35-1.40x the performance of 5700xt.interpolating that result, you'll get close to 220fps avg. where 2080Ti does over 290.aand that's on a way better gaming platform.
your monitor has a 48-240 freesync range thoough,so even 190-200 fps will feel very nice.I'd personally prefer ULMB at 120 but this is gonna play super smoothly with freesync.

Regardless of how much you lower your settings you'll still be limited by the CPU most likely.... I had a 5820k and @ 4.5ghz and the difference for high fps gaming is night and day with a 9900k.

I think the best cpu today would be 10600k instead of 9900k

but this still cost me a lot and will not me permit take the 2080ti, will a 10600k + 5700 do 240fps ? or isnt better that I keep my pc and buy just a 2080ti ?

10600kf or 10700f
2080Ti is a waste
imo 10600kf + 2080S for best balance if you have the budget for a 2080Ti

I'd probably take the 2080 ti over the CPU upgrade but if you can wait better cards will be out this year....

generally yes,but not for this specific use when he needs a super fast gaming cpu too.
and how huch faster is 2080Ti than 2080S anyway ? 16% for $300-400 more

Correct I've only worked with 1 2080s and 1 vanilla 2080 and neither overclocked as well or gained as much as the 3 2080 ti I've worked with.... I use the gears 5 benchmark at 4k to compare overclocks.

Obviously that's a luck of the draw sort of thing.

Im taking an used 2080ti for 800eur, an used 2080S goes for 600 here, so the price differnce is not 400 but its 200.......... Im literally paying the 2080ti the price that the 2080S goes for.

I cant wait anymore, and sincerely think the new gpu will maybe goes like 2080ti for lower price, so when they will came out, will sell my 2080ti and buy the new, so I will have also warranty and new drivers.... for the cpu Im looking forward for the 10600k seem very good for its price, maybe will upgrade too to this, or to the new ryzen four gen with new IPC upgrade.....

I don't want to be "that" person but, why the hell would anyone buy a 2080ti, only to play their games on LOW settings? That's basically pissing away 1K and some change for fuck sake!

OP, no offense but, either lower your GPU target (you mentioned a 2080, 2080ti, and a 5700 XT, which are all miles away in performance/price from each other) or by all means, buy that 2080ti and go to town on the graphics settings. Just don't expect the CPU to keep up with that kind of GPU power.

Im not spending 1k but 800 ;)
Sincerely for fps games, I care about 0 at graphics settings, just wanna get 1080p resolution, that now I need to play at 900p.... Thats what you need to sacrifice if you wanna get really nice and steady gameplay for 240hz monitor there still no gpu+cpu that let you play at ultra quality on cod, maybe even the nvlink will struggle under 200fps on ultra settings.

maybe for other games like rdr2 or nfs that will play on my tv (1080 60) this gpu would be overkill but thats good for me, maybe I will be able to max out them.

Its fun to play with a 240hz monitor and 2080ti is the best option to hit that 240 target.
Pc gaming was never about value for me but pushing what consoles cant do.that includes 240 FPS.and hes not wasting anything, just trading IQ for FPS,nothing wrong with that.
motion smoothness is as much part of the visual experience as static image quality.

Yeah, even just 15% more performance can be the difference between 200 and 230fps for some people that extra 30 fps is worth more than the sacrifice to image quality. Not my thing either but I agree a 2080 ti would leave 0 doubt in how many fps you can hit.

so I was thinking to upgrade at the end of the year my r9-290x (buyed back in the day in jan 2014 that still had served me well for a lots of games)

since november im playing the new cod like every evening and while on the first I was good, recently while i started playing warzone not the mp (the mp goes around 180/190 and its fine for me) mode the fps drop are very very poor like 80/90 outside and in house are 100/120....

There's no GPU that's going to do 240 FPS on warzone or cod, not even a 2080ti, and I think chasing this unicorn now is pointless, it looks to be a CPU limited game never made to do that high an FPS.
All IMHO though thought through opinion.

At 1080 and below you are more cpu limited than anything, especially if you run low settings in-game.
a ti makes not much sense, as min frames wont go up if it cant be fed by the cpu.\

IF you really want a gpu upgrade, get a watercooled 2080S, as temps are the biggest thing after the cpu that affect perf.
my 2080 hybrid card was having issues, and i used an air cooled 2080S for a few week,
and even that it was the S version, chip and vram clocked higher, it was noticeable slower than the 280 (non S),
just because it got warm.
Nv starts limiting boost once the chip hits +44*C, so having a water cooled non-ti can actually result in better performance than any air cooled (faster) card.
