I'm thinking of stuffing 16gb more RAM into my board for the new MS2020 Flight Sim.

Depends how petty you are when it comes to looks...

Also same memory = less headaches messing around with mismatched ram kits. At the same time production might have switched to different ram chips which could cause issues. Your call really

Check again, those Ripjaws are 16-19-19-39, and the Tridents you have are 16-16-16-36. Unless you don't use XMP, they'll function fine I would imagine.

The sticks you have are real B-dies with matched timings, they oc very well. You should ideally get a similar set. The Ripjaws set are most likely Hynix CJRs, they won't match up well, can be done.

If I were you, I would buy a 2x16gb kit and sell the 2x8gb.

if you don't mind about the performance, you can add them but of course the ram would run in lower speed according the slow one
i agree if you just run it in stock setting they will be fine, but for the better result you should use the same spec or try to find any 2nd

Why not just buy another 2x8 3600c16 set ?
B-die shouldn't have any issues with different kits and you do have four dimm slots just fill them up, no way I'd touch that other set with a 10 foot pole.
8gb sticks oc easier but if you just run 3600c16 default timings shouldn't see any issues.

Don't mix and match kits if you dont have to. The die underneath has little bearing to stability when mixing kits.

Like @EarthDog said you want to avoid mixing kits. You might get lucky, and the kits play nice together.

I was able to get two different kits to work at 3333 MHz but recently started having stability issues, had to drop down to 3266 MHz.

I'd stay with what you have, the timings are better and you have the option to buy a second matching set to bring your system upto 32GB, even if they're a bit more expensive(worth it IMHO).

Personally I've NEVER had problems with mismatched RAM, and that means from the PC100/PC133 SDRAM era. IMO it's just pure luck does a ram module/kit work with another, usually with a little bios tweaking usually anything works.

I've used 4 sticks in triple channel (X58) and 6 sticks in quad channel (X99) without problems so I guess I've been lucky or it simply doesn't really matter.

Nah, you were just lucky all the sticks you used were close enough to each other. OP's ram is very fast b-dies and those will not mix with hynx c-dies. You put them in the wrong order and it will crash. It's not a huge deal, but you gotta know to put the slow ones in first. The b-dies will run the c-die speed w/o issue, but not the other way around.

I disagree with the latter one as I've been also using different size sticks with totally different speeds and from different manufacturer. But I agree with the first one, probably just lucky and I haven't been interesting in tuning RAM settings/speeds since BH-5 DDR1 times.

havent had a problem with mismatched ram. just a performance hit. Id make sure there the same rating tho. But personally i still wouldnt do it. Just buy 2x16 and sell the other ones.

Same tested latency timings and frequency is not technically mixing kits and B-die is very versatile in this

Most don't use xmp profile anyway and tuning is needed regardless to optimize performance especially on 3600c16 2x8/ 4x8 or 2x16gb kits some timings are performance killing so adjustments are needed.
Setting 16-16-16-36 T2 and 1.35v a child could do
Other tweaks are easier than that.
