Framedrops on my new RTX build,please help

Hello,
So i recently built a PC-
Ryzen 3600X
Deepcool Gammax 400V2 Cooler
MSI B450 Pro Vdh Max
XPG 8*2GB DDR4 3200MHz
Zotac RTX 2060 Super mini 8GB
1TB WD Black
Sandisk 500GB M.2 SATA(Boot drive)
Antec Neo Eco 650W Modular 80+Bronze
Ant ICE511MT case

So while playing games(tried with RDR2,DMC 5) the normal fps hovers around 120-130 but suddenly framedrops to <80 for a second and then gets back to 120+.
Its ruining my gaming experience.
Kindly help me out.

Do you monitor your GPU clocks and wattage etc. with a monitoring software? It would have been better if you did. That way could see if your card is dropping clocks for core and/or memory while playing the game and what is the power delivery. That would give more information and you would be able to tell if something isn't right.

Do you lock your FPS to 60? Switch off any frame cap or Vsync etc. get a monitoring software start playing and take a look what's causing the drops in frames. Maybe it's just demanding area that you have entered or maybe there is something else.

This does not look like a performance problem. 80 FPS is still high.

You should simply run your game on Adaptive Vsync for a 60hz monitor. That will provide the best experience and can eliminate the frame rate variance you have now. if you lock at 60... dropping to 80 is a non issue. Your latency impact will be minimal since you've got sufficient performance.

So this isn't an hardware issue,right?
And i don't think my GPU is bottlenecking the CPU either.
What could have possibly caused this?

Your choice of FPS target causes this. All games fluctuate in FPS as some scenes are light and others are heavy on the GPU or other parts of the pipeline.

120 > 80 is nothing special at all.

Yeah,thats WD is my hard disk drive.
Installed all of my games on it and playing it via that drive only.

That might be one cause of occasional drops if game has to load some data from the hdd. Consider getting a decent sata ssd just for storing games.

i hate these stutters are so common in new builds. The common culprits are RAM and HDD bottlenecks.

For me it is typically the ram. See if you can OC the ram a bit and tighten the TRFC, trefi timings. On my slower non-intel coffee lake builds (skylake-x/ryzens) this helps eliminate stutters almost entirely. Even if you have to loosen the CL and primary timings a bit if you can hit 3600 with tighter subtimings it will run smooth.
