My card dead is so. I posted a WTB here and I'm looking for something used, but a bunch of stores are now selling GTX 1660 Super cards at pretty good discounts. I have been thinking about getting a 1440p monitor as well at one point, so a beefier GPU wouldn't come amiss. Used 1070's still go for about €70 less than a new 1660 Super so it makes no sense getting one of those, and like GTX970/980's are almost as old as my current card (while greatly faster) and yeah. A much better NEW card for less than twice the money as a heaps old GTX970 feels like a decent deal. And while I'm not exactly a serious gamer these days a GTX 1660 Super will last for bunches of years. I was perfectly happy with my GTX760, that should tell you something about my use case. The only reason I wanted to upgrade to begin with was because I was hoping to snag a good deal on a used card when the 3080 dropped but given the lack of supply the good deals happened for a very short time frame (when I didn't have the cash). But then it died, and while I have a Radeon 7850 somewhere I'm not really keen on going backwards. So.

The thing is I have no idea who makes good cards these days. I can go to reviews for cooling and stuff, but I have no idea which OEM has solid designs and good reputations.

Anyway. The cards are as follows:

ASUS Phoenix OC Single Fan - This one is the cheapest but after reading reviews imma say no, despite the tempation of a lower price.
Zotac AMP! - Seems solid but it'll be a couple weeks away, I was hoping to get the card next week.
ASUS TUF Gaming - No idea.
PNY XLR8 OC - No idea.
Palit GamingPro OC - Probably my choice because the cooler allows for trickery.
ASUS EVO - Idle fan feature. Which I frankly don't care about.

And BTW RMA stuff is handled by stores in Sweden and not the manufacturer.

Prices ranges from €211 to €234, normal prices ranges from ~€260 to ~€290.

Any input is appreciated!

1070 is about 10% faster than 1660 SUPER and has 2GB more memory to boot. If you can get a 1070 for €70 less than a new 1660S then I'd definitely go for the former.

None of the 1660S you've listed have the 1x HDMI/3x DP config that would give them a bit more longevity, look at Gigabyte/MSI/Zotac cards if that's valuable to you.

If you do decide to go for 1660S then it's much of a muchness from the list you've drawn up (except for single vs dual fan obviously), about the only differentiator is warranty duration - double-check what Palit offers.

All reviews I've seen put them neck and neck.

EDIT: You may be thinking about the non super?

1070 and 1660S are about the same. Technically I think the 1660Ti is the exact same performance as the 1070, but the Super is close enough.

My friend got the EVGA dual-fan 1660S recently, runs pretty cool. The KO cooler is pretty underwhelming on the 2060, but on the lower end 1660S it's perfect. I'd take either it or the Zotac, just stay miles away from the Phoenix. The Phoenix is possibly one of the worst cards ever made.

It seems to vary depending on which site you look. Even if 1070 is same perf or slightly under 1660S, for €70 less and 2GB more VRAM it's still better value in my books. Likely no warranty for a second-hand 1070 though.

Most video card brands that I owned have been ASUS and they all seemed fine. So those would be my pick I guess, honestly with these lower end cards it doesn't matter that much which model you pick.

Personally if I could I'd wait till the end of the year, you'll probably have the chance to get something twice as good for the same money by then.

There "should" (??? ???) be a considerable price drop in the used market when the RTX 3070 comes out.

I got the Asus tuf gaming 1660S for a build about a week ago, it's a solid card with great cooling due mostly to the three fan design which makes it quite long.
If you like LED lighting it's very minimal and lopsided for some reason, it would look better balanced with matching lights on the other end.

All reviews I've seen put them neck and neck.

They do not, due the missing information of actual cards dimensions.
They are super long cards with cheap fans and terrible heatsink.
They are also sorter cards with advanced cooling system.
They are also sorter cards with terrible cooling system ( for operation at lower clocks).

Best way to start your hunting this is to measure of a how long card this can get in your case.

So the HD7850 I had laying around performs way better than I thought it would (for Outer Worlds, which is by far the heaviest game I run, it is the minimum required GPU and I'm running on 1080p at low/medium settings with Ultra viewing distance and it runs very well and looks quite good, apart from the slow as molasses texture loading) so I am very inclined to wait a while. Black Friday maybe will net something, or as y'all are saying once the mid tier Ampere cards and RDNA2 have come out and stock have settled a bit so people can actually get their cards 1070's will probably drop in price.
