Anyone got this and playing on the PC?

I just picked it up a couple of days ago and just now downloading it.

I played RDR and thought it was a hoot and can't wait to get into 2. :peace:

If you have it and played post up some screen shots and what you think of it.

Was wanting to make this an "official" game thread but I'm not even sure how a person goes about that. :p

For some reason I thought one had been started months ago, but not sure.

Anyway, whichever mods are over this Games subforum can make a thread “official” for a game. Just PM them. It used to be RCoon did it on request when he was active.

Yeah, I got it but still finishing off one last playthrough of Skyrim SE before really launching in to it. Have you run the games benchmark?

No, I haven't ran that yet.

Honestly, I haven't even had a chance tonight to fire the game up LOL

Anyone that has this game and hasn't downloaded it yet, it uses up 119 gigs of drive!!!

Newer games are just insane on the amount of drive space they take up. Hell, I can remember games being less than 100 megs. LOL

Fired it up over the weekend, but just for a few minutes. Didn't have a chance to really get into the game. The graphics are great.........However I'm still using a dang GTX970 so the graphics could be a lot better with a more modern video card I'm sure.
I had to scale the graphics down a bunch for the game to even play in full screen.
Planning on getting a 2080ti soon so that should make a huge difference.

That should make a huge difference! I only played about 4 and a half hours when it came out. It was obviously such a large investment of time I ended up putting it on the back burner. I'll get to it though!

Just did an hour of the main quest last night, have mixed feelings about this... so far too many cut scenes & swapping between 1st & 3rd person views...
My system has everything maxed @ 1080P, the box draws avg 350w+ as measured from the wall plug. Massive increase compared to DX11 game

Nah, 1080P only that monitor unless I go VR
Can't recall what FPS atm.
In any case, I find the game annoying as heck to play... but they got my $!
Game journos rambling on how fantastic the game is & can do 1st person perspective... well that's complete BS!
Only 1st person at certain parts of the game.
Moral of the story, don't believe the hype!

haha i guess that was good about way back, tapes now you would need thousands of them haha.

Anyways play everyday, multiplayer is a grind, don't rush though or you will not have any thing to do later.

Feel free to add me, same as the forum.

I have a buddy who got this on a 21:9 display and he loves it. I really want a 21:9 display someday. I think we are at a point where you need two high end monitors, one really nice 21:9 monitor and one high fps 1440p one. and then again a 32" 4k one for games capped at 60 fps... so 3 displays... lord save us all...

Yeah... know what you mean. But I dont need 100FPS
Over the years (~20) I've learned to play such games with 30FPS if I have to, so around 50~60 will be just fine. So much for the 120Hz, but it is what it is...

I got this game running on 60 fps with mostly ultra settings on a geforce 1660 super at 1080p. There are a few settings you can adjust that take up most of the gpu usage. I think its a disappointment to be honest so far. I don't think the graphics are that great at least what it is hyped up and it is really slow and kind of boring. But maybe it gets better later on.

"Mostly ultra" meaning ultra textures and medium everything else? My 2080 Ti struggled to hit more than 60 at 1440p High. Just turning something like Water simulation to ultra will instantly halve your FPS. I think you're BSing.

And yes, the game is very slow. And hardly a game. It's more like a very interactive movie. RDR2 is not a good game. It's clunky (picking up items takes several items because they need to have pretty animations, shooting is exactly like GTA V, third/first person is very finicky [I'd recommend sticking to third person at all times], controls are really bad, etc.), very slow and there's no fun mechanics or anything like that. That being said, it's one of my favorite games. The story is just fantastic and the graphics still are the best I've seen in any game (keep in mind this was high settings, any lower and the game quickly begins to go into turd-territory). There is a huge investment of time needed to play through the story, but that's all I'd recommend playing (as I said, the story is all that carries the game. The gameplay is poopoo). If you can properly immerse yourself in the story like you would with a movie, RDR2 is a blast. But if you can't, or you're just looking for a fun shooter/open-world RPG, look elsewhere. There are plenty of much better options. But none that can immerse you in the game quite as much if you're willing to get yourself into the headspace the game wants you to be in.

57.528 to be precise, and I included the settings. I have no reason to lie lol, to what get rdr 2 fan props. When I played the game I realized the graphics weren't that great at least as it corresponded to the taxing toll it takes on hardware and it has alot of settings, so I looked up the settings and adjusted the ones that use the most gpu. I notice anyway often with games if you change some of the settings or even from one main setting to another there is no big difference in quality. It's like this with RDR 2 I notice almost no difference in quality from the best settings to the adjustment and I got almost a 30 fps in improvement. I guess you really wanted to be convinced I could show you my hardware specs but even then you might think oh but you could have changed the settings and done the test and then I could make a video of it,etc. Or you could just change the settings as I have and see the difference it makes. Here is the guide I used that shows settings by gpu use https://www.hardwaretimes.com/red-d...ance-guide-best-graphics-settings-for-60-fps/

I might play rdr 2 more, I beat the first one. I am skeptical of story, rockstar stories usually suck although I actually liked gta 3. There are games that are much better with interactive movie like say heavy rain or detroit. I don't really want to invest in a game, I just play for fun or a good story.

Like I expected. The settings that actually affect FPS a reasonable amount are set to medium and some high. All the ones that do pretty much nothing for the FPS are set to Ultra (so they're freebies). So you're running Medium/High.

I mean, I'm not Rockstar so I'm not going to sell the game to you. If you don't like it, don't play it. That's absolutely fine by me. In my opinion it looks stunning (at high, medium starts to dial things back too much for my liking) and the story is fantastic as it goes along, the first chapter is a bit boring. But yeah, play whatever you want, I'm just sharing my experience with the game :)

No most of the settings are ultra and high. only 4 out of 38 settings are medium and those are the gpu intensive settings. You can't read lol. Maybe your visual acuity is effected as well and this is why you think the game has good graphics. Many gamers these days games are is just like mindless tv for them and they slobber over graphics and cannot comprehend anything else. I get it, if that is how you are, then good for you

You’re arguing over nothing. You know, he said the story is fantastic. It’s part of that reading thing...
