NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 3DMark performance leaked

The 8nm Ampere GA104-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card will be a close match to GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the last-gen, Turing-based flagship.
We have been in contact with many reviewers and it seems that the newer model is just slightly faster than 2080 Ti in gaming, while offering similar performance in synthetic benchmarks.

The official Reviewer’s Guide repeats the same values that were published by NVIDIA in a blog post earlier this month.
The company has commented on the performance

Across a variety of ray-traced and rasterized DirectX and Vulkan titles, the GeForce RTX 3070 delivers similar or faster performance than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (which sold for twice the price) and is on average 1.6x faster than the original GeForce RTX 2070.

With more ROP and more CUDA units I am surprised it only beats 2080Ti by a relatively small percentage.

At $499 (if you can get one) that match and exceed previous gen $1200 flagship, it is a win for consumer

These shouldn't have the same constraints as the 3080: the die is smaller and these don't need GDDR6X. We'll see.

Auto correct is obviously the problem here. Almost everything has a red line when I type for some reason.

On a more serious note... strange choice of games to bench (Aots, Blender and two RTX titles?!), and looks like a number of them favoring the new architecture tweaks more so than showing us, say, The Witcher 3 or something on CryEngine. SImilar thing happened when we went from Pascal to Turing. Not all games and engines gained, some even lost a bit to their comparative tier. I think its realistic to consider the most accurate scenario for 'most general games' and not just AAA Nvidia sponsored content plus some synthetics, the comparison of 2080ti vs 3070 on Borderlands 3.

If you claim this is business as usual, please remind me when was the last time AMD brought their previous high-end performance to the mid-range at half price.

Well the R9 280X at $300 which was a direct rebadge of the HD 7970 which launched at $550. Not quite 50% though... Took the R9 380X at $230 to fix that up.

Maybe the RX 480 which took down the 290X, but only three years later and after Fury X hit the high end...

The RX 5600 XT is spitting distance from Vega 64 at $279 MSRP, just shy of 50%. Depends on the model you get though.

When was the last time nVidia pulled this trick?

Ignoring the Titans as the outlier prosumer/"not mainstream GeForce cards," it'll be the GTX 970 at $329 supplanting the GTX 780 Ti which launched at a then staggering $699.

Yea I don't get it. GTX 970 matched the 780 Ti (or at least the MSI AIB model review I just checked on TPU), GTX 1070 handily beat the 980 Ti. Even RTX 2070 wasn't too far off from 1080 Ti but everyone knows RTX 20-series was underwhelming.

It would be more tradition-breaking if Nvidia increased price every generation along with performance increase. I can still hear some people arguing, "RtX 2o70 WHiCh iS $500 bEAts $550+ gTX 108o so iT'S A gOod valUE carD" when RTX 20-series launched.

The logical thing is to have 64ROPs if you check the GA102 and divide the 112 ROPs with the 7GPCs. The thing is that the performance figures that Nvidia shared and also the leaked UL benchmarks results are too high, they don't corelate well with the simulated performance of a 64ROPs part. Although unlikely to make a redesign of the GPC and change the ROPs/TCs ratio, I can't find any other logical conclusion.
1)Either we have a 96ROPs design, or
2)64ROPs design but NV moved the ROPs outside of the GPC again (this is highly unlikely) to alleviate the latency cost, or
3)the NV shared results were cherry picked (and very misleading) and also the UL results were based on an extremely high overclocked part
If we have 96ROPs probably will be around 1% better than 2080Ti in 4K and 4% better in QHD (2% & 5% with Zen3 PCI-EXPESS 4 scaling)
