It seems like it will require PCIe 4.0 though, so it will be very limited on Intel.
I'd say Tom's drew way too many conclusions based on that tweet though.
The resizable BAR seems to be part of older PCIe specs though and seems to have been around since 2008.
However, my guess is that the extra bandwidth provided by PCIe 4.0 is what enabled it to be a feasible feature for GPUs.

According to GN, no, it is also PCI e 3.0

I guess to be specific, it doesn't require PCIe 4.0

The software engineers over at Nvidia are so frikking talented that all they need are ideas, and AMD just gave it to them, CAS, Anti Lag and now SAM. If I remember right Nvidia has more software engineers than hardware.

Wonder how that SAM equivalent on the 3000 NV series GPUs is going to contribute to performance.

I wonder though, if AMD will more or less allow it to work for Intel setups as well in future? Or if they will just make it exclusive to their AMD branding?

Cause I plan to upgrade to rocket lake but also wish to get a 6800....

Freesync, ray tracing, VRS, DLSS alternative.

Its becoming a trend - after Nvidia has been leading for a long time. And I dare say this one is a lot more relevant than any of the aforementioned are for general GPU performance.

Its funny you should mention Freesync, because its an exception where AMD stole the initiative and Nvidia felt forced to give away their nice margin Gsync proposition. They still sell it... but yeah. Who cares when it works on compatible monitors too. AMD basically stole the leadership role on adaptive sync there - even if Nvidia was 'first'.

Other examples of following instead of leading is the answers they have to Navi so far - not much and they've already played their top-end hand for this gen. This announcement right here is a sign they got blindsided on more than just the hardware. And it remains to be seen how well it is going to work, though I reckon we will see a few % uplift, depending on the hardware involved.

Real ray tracing will become not early than 2023-24 when cards has enough performance to keep all RT effects not just 1-2 of its.

Yeap, and they posted after I did. At least it wasn't there when I posted on forum.

So I think mods can delete the thread now.
