I was running out of space in photoshop. scratch disk is slow.

I need to know maximum allowed speed and size, currently it has 16GB of DDR4 1200 dram frequency at 2400?? 2x8 they have PSD48G240081 product number.
if there is faster like 3200mhz I am able to switch them too. please advice for fastest ram.
Also want to know if I can use the ones I already have in the meantime cause I don't have 250$ at the moment. 32+16 for now.
what are my options? I think 3200 is plenty fast for now cause as I was seeing on crucial I don't have money for 4400 or 5100mhz memory for now.

we want to help but if we dont know what system you are running then what do you expect ? ok i could have read the title with msi z270a pro-sorry
i only know ya have ddr4 2x8gb patriot signature line 2400 cl17-17-17-30 1,20volts and ya want more

ya don´t need 5100 crucial ram - that´s for superduper ln2 overclockers.

You best bet is look at your motherboards QVL list on the manufactures website. Then look at the specs for your board to see how much ram you can install. And, TBH, you would be better off upgrading to a Ryzen because most boards support up to 64gb of ram.

The scratch disk being slow is prolly because its full, maybe add another drive for long term storage.

Why not just buy the same kit you already have?

4x8GB. You board has four ram slots yes? Your current kit is 2 sticks of 8GB correct? Do you see where I'm going without spamming emotes? (Yeah I got all three notifications on your little reactions)

But you keep saying you need 32. You have 16. 16+16=32. Also please stop spamming the emotes.
I said I need 16x2 cause that's how much I got in cash.

Two sticks of the exact modules you listed is $60 on Amazon right now. They'll be the same things as you already have. You'll have four sticks of 8GB matching sticks. That's 32GB of what you want and it's answering your question in the first post. What is the issue?

no I don't want 4 sticks of 8, in the end I want 4 sticks of 16 each.

So find a 4x16GB kit that's matching, or a 2x16 that's same brand and clocks as what you have.

1. Your Board supports:

7th Gen processors support DDR4 3800(OC)/ 3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400/ 2133
6th Gen processors support DDR4 3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400(OC)/ 2133

The price performance has been moving upward where now 3600 makes a lot of sense. But that's less true at 2 x 16 than it is at 2 x 8

The D in DDR means Double so 2 x 1200 = 2400

2. Yes, definitely sell the existing pair and replace with 2 x 16 GB. Two sets of 2 x 8GB is always a crap shoot and you have no warranty that they will work together. Matching 2 sets of 2 x 8GB can be done, but no guarantee and the higher the speed/ lower the CAS the lower the chances of success. Also not that the same model RAM doesn't mean its the same. It is not unusual to see a RAM vendor switch OEM Module suppliers. To reach higher speeds, many performance vendors wiull use one brand because another less expensive supplier's yields are low ... ten a production lines are tweaked over time, and that other vendors yields are noe better, they will switch. In the DDR3 era saw quite a few of these .... For example, Corsair Vengeance Pro had modules from Hynix (2400 CAS 10) that were virtually identical to Mushkin's Redline series. But after version 4.51, Corsair switched from Hunix (w/ 10-12-12-28 timings) to another brand OEM w/ w/ 10-12-12-31 timings). Manually matching the timings might have worked at lower speeds but setting the two Corsair sets timings to 10-12-12-31 timings was unsuccessful even after raising DRAM voltage to 1.725

3. A pair of 2 x 16GB @ 1600, CAS 18 will run ya about $125 ... CAS 16 about $140 ... I'd invest the $140 for Photo and Video Editing.

4. If you planning on upgrading at some point down the line, you have the same problem ... going from 2 to 4 sticks is a crapshoot. Might wanna consider a 4 x 16 GB package ..... Recognize also that 4 sticks is harder on your system that 2 sticks and will likely impact CPU overclocking stability requiring a more conservative OC.

yea I hate overclocking never had success with girls and cousins either, so what I wanna do is get 4x16 pay them over 3 or 6 months @ 2400 CAS 16 you said would be best correct?
