Hey guys, long time! I was looking to buy some mesh filters for my case. The approximate dimensions are 120mmx240mm and 150mmx300mm. I did find some on Amazon but at an average of $10 for 2 filters that don't fit very precisely, I figured I can do better by DIYing some. Does anyone have any ideas on what material I can purchase to use as makeshift filters? I checked Home Depot and it looks like I can get a massive roll of window mesh for $10, but does anyone know of any alternatives that I can buy from the dollar store or something? If I bought window mesh I'd end up throwing away literally 90% of it.

I use cheap furnace filters from the hardware store. 25" x 16" x 1" for 89 cents each.

I cut openings in the front of my PC case to let the two Noctua 120mm fans actually breathe. I use cut pieces of this fan filter material from Home Depot:
It's white, breathes easy, rinses clean with water for re-use and is simple to cut and fit over wide mesh. After six months in a very dusty room, I hardly had to use canned air at all to clean the inside of the PC.
Highly recommended.

I didn't know. I've never bought it for any of my lady friends nor have I ever felt the need for buying for myself.

You clearly need to start robbing more banks... :D

On topic, Akasa has a range of fan filters.

Corsair also sells "spare parts" so maybe one of their spares could work, such as this?

They're all quite affordable as well.

I actually did this with my thermaltake armor, it works wonders. my ex-gf at that time was not happy tho since her panty hose kept disappearing.

You can barely see it, but they are on the 25cm side fan as well as the front mesh

You are better off just not using any filters and buying a can of compressed air and clean the PC every once in a while.

It's thermals will also thank you, filters kill airflow. Oh and dust will make it's way into the PC anyway.

I live in a very high humidity area. The dust sticks and is hard to get off, like really hard. I use positive pressure and filters. But it does run slightly hotter

Same, here on the Gulf Coast of Florida it's humid when it's not humid if you know what I mean. I use the furnace filters that @bobbybluz mentioned. It keeps most of the dust out and breaths well at the same time. I have no overheating issues and I am an avid gamer.

I have found that leaving the side panel(s) off results in very little dust accumulation; I have two 140mm and one 120mm intake fans (no exhaust fans) with one 140mm internal 'stirrer' fan.

Of course, it depends on how dusty your environment is...

I do this sometimes too. Matter of fact, it's how my current system sits. I'm not going to say for sure if it's a direct cooling method or laziness of not putting the panel back on after checking the vid card the other day.

No filtration for me, I have a DataVac. And before the DataVac I had a can of air and no filters. I do have filters but I don't use them.

Something to consider is that you might not need to go as gung ho with filters if you have an air purifier in the same room as the PC that's constantly running if you don't have forced hot air or central air with a HEPA filter. I've found that doing that reduces how much dust builds up on surfaces and in the PC in my home office.

Filter foam - they use the same on air conditioners. Look on ebay for them. and make sure they are THIN because they can be pretty restrictive as ive found out.

Otherwise G1 Dust filter -- sold as a roll but its always handy to have some. you could also so build filters for your friends and sell it to them for a little profit.

HI,
I use speaker cloth works pretty good had some old speaker frames around so I used it
Some places I had to also use some gutter grid to hold it from getting sucked into fans
Dark color easy to see when it needs to be cleaned.
Stylish blue tape well you can't see it when installed it goes under corsair magnet screens which are pretty useless at collecting micro dust.
