Help! My computer just won’t work.

My computer just as of last night stopped working when you would turn it on it would turn on for a few second all the rgb lights and fans would start then stop, oddly enough if I held the power button it would go but not boot up, all the fans ands lights would work but It wouldn’t boot up on my monitor. I have unplugged every wire in site even disconnected my power supply and plugged it all back in and took my cpu, gpu, and memory out as well plugged them all back in and problem still occurs. I searched the internet and haven’t found much help, so I took my old cpu and plugged it back in and it boots up but it runs into a automatic preparing repair loop that I don’t know how to get out of, so I checked my new cpu and there are two pins that are slightly bent, and a lil of thermal glue on some pins, but I don’t really think those two pins would cause my computer to not even boot up, which leads me to think it’s a possible psu issue but it does it’s job, can you please help.
Specs: graphics:AMD Ryzen 5700xt, cpu:AMD Ryzen 7 3800x, MBO:B450M-IBW, power supply: game max gm-800?

thermal glue or thermal paste?..if its thermal glue the processor is doomed..

try cleaning processor and slot with isopropyl alcohol (IPA)...

use a very fine paintbrush dipped in 95-98% ipa...make sure the parts are dry before reassembly..

some shops sell PCB cleaning solutions...can use that too.

Well I got most of it off it’s barely there, while I let it dry, I took my psu put of my computer and I do honestly thinks it’s the problem but I’m not sure, before I unplugged it, I could turn on everything and it would go but it was not sending hdmi signal to my monitor so I naturally change the hdmi and it still doesn’t work, what could be the cause here?

My current guess is it's the PSU. GameMax is a fairly sub-par PSU brand and may not be supplying the correct voltages. How old is it? Do you have any other PSU you could use to ensure that the problem is with the PSU?

If it's cleaning electronics that is about to be used, I wouldn't recommend using fluid of any sort, especially inside a slot where it's harder to dry. Instead, if cleaning dry paste, use plastic scraper such as a plastic card. For the rest of the electronic parts, use either a static-free dust/dirt blower or soft dry toothbrush.

Sadly I don’t not have another psu, well I do but it wouldn’t supply my motherboard with enough power to my cpu or gpu should I change my cpu to my old one and take off my gpu and see if it runs?

What about thermal paste in the socket pin holes? It could be causing a contact issue with the pins on the CPU.

Ok so I started with the older CPU, and it turned on fine, but then after 5-10 seconds it would restart

But everything was on and running, wouldn’t be surprised if this psu kinda sucks too, but it did run, in just don’t know what else to do

Could it be a possible panel connection problem because I did mess with those and I’m not entirely sure how they plugged in so I followed a YouTube video on it

clean processor socket again with
1. toothpick dipped in ipa.
2.repeated reseating of the processor in the socket..
3.use a cleaning spray to force out the paste..

you can boot the pc without the front panel connected by momentarily shorting the power button pins on the MB..with a screwdriver..

1. find out the PWR_SW header pins on your MB..
2. make sure your psu 24 pin and 8 pin cables are connected and psu is turned on..
3. Use a screwdriver to short the header pins..only till the pc starts...do not keep shorting the pins after the pc has started or it will turn off again..

there are several guides on youtube if you want to see one...

I personally dont like that power supply so im going to say it replace it with a more reputable one £70 for 800w sounds good on paper but that £70 doesnt mean quality. That £70 can pay for a quality 650w unit which is all you really need.

Thermal paste in the socket was my guess. It could also be the power supply as the OP suspects. I've been wondering how the new CPU had bent pins as well.

Thermal paste shouldn’t be the problem because the thermal paste didn’t get in any of the sockets, and by the time my pc decided to give up and the time I put in the new cpu, the thermal paste would’ve dried before it even touched the socket I feel like it’s a bios problem because before my pc died I changed my MAC address, and my vpn was causing problems because of that so I’m clueless

Okie so did the method of shortening and turning on the pc without the front panel and it keeps turning on for a few seconds and then restarting and I’m using a different psu and different cpu as well so what could be the problem

Thermal paste in the socket was my guess. It could also be the power supply as the OP suspects. I've been wondering how the new CPU had bent pins as well.
Idk how the pins got there to be completely honest I handled the cpu pretty carefully as I placed it in and then once this whole thing happened I found out it was bent

The power supply although is low on quality in now thinking it’s some hardware issue because the system runs but with no boot so it’s something stopping it from booting

When I first have the power supply on my memory and power button lights turn memory is rgb pro vengeance, so idk

UPDATE i unplugged the cpu plugin on the board with 8 pins and for some odd reason it’s running and it’s not restarting now so could it be a short there or just two really bad psu

Bent pins on the CPU can cause those issues.
Make sure they are perfectly aligned by using a credit card to straighten them.

I think this is it...

Change the PSU with a quality one and not with another bad like the one you already have. PSU problem or not, you should have a quality PSU anyway.
A 650W would suffice.
What PSUs are available in your local market?

Well my older cpu is now in place with zero bent pins and it’s runs the same exact way, it starts then stops then repeats so it’s not some cpu issue, I feel like the power supply is the culprit but I have tried two different power supplies and it has changed since I’m going to change everything out and replace the power supply with the kinda newer one and not change the cpu because I do feel like it’s a voltage issue

Tomorrow I’m gonna go get a new power supply what’s the best my budget is $200

Before you waste money doing so, can you please tell us first what the second PSU brand and rating is so we can verify whether it really is PSU issue or not.
