Intel needs a few things:
1. the board needs to f*** shut up and let the CEO and engineering teams do their jobs;
2. the new CEO needs to collaborate, understand and come up with strategies and risks to take to get back up to speed;
3. process issues need to be fixed. Either by asking for help from external, by hiring new experts, skipping some generations and move directly to EUV 5nm, don't know;
4. put in place a bold plan like Lisa did with Zen/RDNA. New architectures built from ground up, something like Conroe.

When some of your products are stillborn, others never eventuating and security flaws abound, saturate the market to keep that money rolling in. :kookoo:
Yeppers. Once you have market dominance that’s the way it goes.

You did a shit job as CEO so we are firing you. Here have X million dollars because you tried your best.
Capitalism at its finest.
More like venture capitalism.....but ya the way it is now. What a sad unethical joke.

FTFY, but yes - Intel's run by people who don't understand how Intel makes product. I've listened to a few interviews over the last few years that make me feel pretty sorry for any of the smart, enthusiastic young designers and engineers trying to break through the thick corporate ice sheet.

It is a mediocre guess, it has nothing to do with the corporate team. Intel just had all of the eggs in a single basket which shifted its future projected timelines. It was a process intrusion that skewed anything past 14nm. Now that it has affected its revenues, not making sufficient chips, it is likely not to recover too soon.

I think stepping down is a nice way to put it. It is quite obvious that he has been shown the "red card" by the board. While things did not improve during Bob's tenure, I feel he is probably doing what he can from what he inherited from his predecessor who was also "shown the red card" for "relationship with employee". Not sure how true is that, or just an excuse to oust him from the role because of multiple failures.

Definitely not. He was not some creep, in fact was very popular with the overclocker crowds. He has a photo with lab501.ro dammit.

when your CEO has to resign, it shows things are not going very good, and the near future might be a little bit rough...
go on, you don't have to only point out the obvious negative, it's OK to think positive and also point out the good of what may come later.

Wait, Intel is FINALLY putting an engineer in the top spot?! Christ it's amazing it took them this long to figure out that maybe having someone that knows something about the product actually in charge as being a good thing.

This did not go well for AMD when engineer Dirk Meyer was CEO.

True, but it appears to be going swimmingly for AMD and NVIDIA.

Intel has new architecture from the ground up! And starting this fall....

big.Little CPU design with new extreme IPC performance from Cove cores design.

Intel H6 LGA 1700 socket "PCIe 5.0" with DDR5 and USB4 WiFi-6E 5G technology coming out this Halloween. With 3 CPUs lineups with the new LGA 1700 socket.

12th gen 10nm++
Alder Lake (Golden Cove)
16/32 Cores (8+8)

13th gen 7nm+
Meteor Lake (Ocean Cove)
32/64 Cores (16+16) "3D Stacked"

14th gen 7nm++
Lunar Lake (Redwood Cove)
32/64 Cores (16+16) "3D Stacked)"

FYI
Intel 7nm EUV is = to TSMC 3nm EUV
