The 5800 would be really nice if it came to retail, because it would be a true 3700X successor and probably wouldn't lose out on a whole lot of performance (not that the 5800X has revolutionary MT perf in the first place) but run a hell of a lot cooler with a 90W PPT in MT loads.

AMD realized that the 3700X cannibalized the 3800X sales, and this time around knows full well that with 5800X having the best (relative) availability they'll continue to have zero trouble getting people to shell out 3900X prices even for the least desirable product in the 5000 stack.

5800 and 5900 probably fully unlocked but depending on the state of the AW BIOS in 2021 I'd bet money on it not having Curve Optimizer, ie. the overclocking you actually want. Pop it into a retail board and watch it go like any other chip.

That 5800 does look like it's priced well though.

Pricing is going to be interesting if these ever come to the diy channel.... Maybe $380-399 for the 5800 but there really isn't any room for the 5900 price wise the 5900X is already a decent value for what it is at $549 dropping a 5900 for $499 makes the 5800X even less enticing.

Unless they drop the 5600X to $249 and the 5800X to $399 but I find that unlikely in today's market.

Only 5350G, 5650G and 5750G could come to retail sometime soon to battle newest Intel 6-core CPUs. The rest are only for OEMs me thinks.

I believe you get the most with the 5800 if you don't really need 5900's 4 more cores, but both are good, both are 65W parts which is impressive.

It's more to do with resource allocation, a 5800 non X would probably sell as much if not more than current 5800x+5900x+5950x sales combined. AMD can hardly make enough chips for everyone, in fact of all the major chip manufacturers they are by far the most constrained for capacity. Even if they released such a chip to retail it wouldn't stay in stock, simple as that.
