Hey peeps! I'm wondering if y'all could help me out with something. As the title suggests, I'm seriously considering going back to an AIO in the near future for various reasons (aesthetics, etc.) and need your help with picking one out of a few possible choices. They are:

EK-AIO 240 D-RGB (Or the 120 variant)
Lian Li Galahad (black) 240
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 (or the 120 version)

At the moment, my top two are the EK and Liquid Freezer II. The reviews on Amazon for the Lian Li are greatly mixed and thus, not instilling a lot of confidence in me in regards to the product.

Thank you in advance :)

Either the Freezer 120 or 280mm version since your case support 280mm front rad

The 120mm EK-AIO DRGB is $89 USD; the 240mm is $120 USD; the EK-AIO Basic (it's completely blacked out) 240mm is $89 USD, for reference :)

Yes, a 280 mm version of Freezer II would be even better, quieter. However, you need to be aware of radiator's thickness, which is 38mm + 25mm for fans if I'm not mistaken. Installation could be troublesome, unless you can live with a front mounted setup (which isn't all that bad anyway).

I'll be honest, I'd like to avoid a front mounted rad if I can (it's quite dusty here in the spring/summer months) but my case is also rather compact and so there's barely any clearance between my ram and the rad fans if I were to go for a top mount (did it before with my last AIO and it was a bitch to top mount lol)

Just buy the cheapest one with a 5+ year warranty that fits in your case. on your R5 3600 they will all perform the same.
Just don't buy a 120mm they suck ass... Much better off with similar priced noctua or be quiet over that.

How about reasons to stick with Air cooling? Specifically the lack of water near your PC parts and reliability.

If I HAD to go AIO, I'd go corsair specifically because they will replace any damaged parts should the AIO fail.

I got an air compressor from Walmart for like 100usd years ago and use to to dust my PC every 6 months, much better than those canned air

A new challenger has entered the fight, y'all! The Celsius S24 by Fractal Design! I scratched the Lian Li Galahad off my short list, watched GN reviews on the EK-AIO and the Arctic Liquid Freezer II last night. Liquid Freezer II is at the top of my (very) short list now, but I'm worried about the sheer chunkiness of the radiator. Though I DO have a spare case that is equally beastly (Cougar Panzer MAX) that it could definitely fit inside. But the problem would then be trying to lift/turn/maneuver the case once filled -- it has two handles but in my case (ha ha!) they don't really help much. Surprised I haven't gotten a hernia trying to lift the damn thing in the past

But enough rambling I suppose. My top two are now the Liquid Freezer II and the Celsius S24, with the EK-AIO Basic in 3rd.

Found that one on their web-site. LOVE the black nickel on the pump, but goddamn that thing is pricey. Too pricey for me, unfortunately :(

I said no pressure :)

I have another build in the works and dont want a ginormous cooler in that box.. My current cooler would be ok in it if the AIO is better :)

If not.. whatever. it would be for my kids machine.. not a bad thing though, it would be similar to my current rig.

I ended up with a Galahad 240 in white for 122 shipped

Good luck and thanks to your thread :)

Yeah, don't overthink it anything with a 5 year warranty is going to be fine the arctic will likely be the quietest if that matters.... knowing you though just make sure you love the way it looks because if not it's gonna cost you more in the long run ;)

Edit... Damn 200 for the ek elite 280 that's like 30 more than I paid for my corsair elite 360

Thanks! I got it from newegg.ca

I figured if the fans aren’t that good I could mount my 120x38s to it and keep the lians as pullers for the pretty lights. I put literally 5% thought into it. But for the price..

But even I think it’s a little pretty.. I won’t lie..

AIO/CLC competition is closer now than ever. The difference in cooling is within a few degrees of others. Quality is even better than ever, warranty length matter too.

It really boils down to looks and pricing. However, you still have to remember, You get what you pay for.

I like how OP asks this question on what was the hottest day so far in the central valley (hi neighbor *waves). I've thought about an AIO for my ancient garage PC (a QX6800, still runs 24/7 and does a lot of work) since it lives in my hot-ass garage and as OP knows, 40C/104F+ ambient for a few weeks straight is not uncommon. My problem is a 240mm AIO is worth more than the whole PC I'd bolt it to. I like to think Kentsfield is the 1955 Mercedes Gullwing of quad-cores, but it's really just some old shit that's worth about 4 Pentium 4s. There's a George Carlin joke that relates to that, but it's prolly too raunchy to post here.

Anyhoo, it is said a fool and his money are soon parted, and when it comes to this old PC of mine, I'm what Sandy Rogers sings about. So I'm def interested in answers here, too. I have an Antec Nine Hundred and not afraid to fire up the compressor and bolt up a rad to the dust magnet lol
