There are a few modern boards that still have PCI slots, though not many. Mostly Ryzen based.

Yeah. I'm not disappointed with my ZX. I mean lets be honest all the power X-Fi had got hobbled by DX/Direct Sound anyway...

Frankly I do miss direct sound, although audio quality have improved over the years their just not as good as when directsound was around for positional audio in games especially.

I now use my X-Fi Fatal1ty instead, which still works, but I want digital 7.1 -and- EAX for retro games).

He might have taken them down because he's about to release a new set. Give him some time, he'll do an update soon I think.

Personally using a Creative Soundblaster Play! 3 feeding into Sennheiser One Headset and so far its been ok

Used to have an X-Fi Fatal1ty as well but now its sitting being in use by my dad. He got my older PC.

Everyone is always welcome! The question is, will DanielK's custom driver sets be useful to you? With that chipset you might be limited to Creatives official drivers.

Nope, sorry mate. DanielK is very careful with his work, but he's also a busy guy. It'll get there, be patient. It should be noted the Creative release a new set of drivers recent for a lot of their soundblaster cards, even some legacy cards. What card do you have? Let's see if they have anything new for it..

Too bad. I use an Auzentech Hometheater HD, which is the only one for some particular purpose I have, unfortunately a Windows 10 update completely killed compatibility with it.

Wait, microsoft borking things up with an update? What an absolute shocker...

Honest advice, if it's something you can't live without, uninstall the updates or reinstall an older version of Windows and turn off updates. Hell, I'd send you back to Windows 7 if you didn't need the internet or Windows 10.

It had a bad ass midi synth for playback of Midi Files through WMP (SonicHQ.net), Then I jumped to a SB XFi for The newer EAX, then my Current build has a ZXR.
