thats a $64MM question, and you will probably get about that many replies...

best thing is to go shopping & find some that YOU like, buy them, try them, then return the ones you find unacceptable :)

Personally, I HATE el-cheapo keyboards, but that's probably because I make a living bangin away on one all day, but still I would rather spend a few moar $$ upfront & get one that is comfortable & long lasting, as opposed to one that makes me hands/wrists ache and/or craps out on me in 3-6 months ....

Currently I have 3 Logi G613's (1@work, 2@home) that are about 2.5 years old.... neveranottaproblemo, but they were a tad moar than your $50 budget...

The one that feels best at the end of your fingertips. HIDs (human interface devices) are extensions of our hands. What feels great at the end of my fingers may feel awkward or even painful to you.

Sadly, you told us nothing about how you use your computer.

Wired or wireless? Ergonomic or straight? Any space limitations?

nah don't have that kinda time, use my computer for work also, looking at amazon to get one here tomorrow, just looking for general recomendations, i found the G11 very comfortable and I already miss its key layout

Here is what my now dead G11 looks like, space isn't an issue I've got a big desk, and its wired, wireless I find unreliable at the best of times, and outside of my HTPC i wouldn't use a wireless anything

I will note I never used the macro buttons, so macro buttons are not something i care about, i do like the multimedia keys, i liked the backlighting, though in its old age it was rather dim

What are you looking for from this new keyboard? I see the G11 is non-mechanical and has a shitload of macro keys as well as dedicated media keys. Is mechanical important to you, or are the macro keys more important? Peripherals are tough to recommend even with the proper information because everyone's preferences are different. As Bill and bonehead mentioned, find something that meets your needs that you like.

My personal opinion at that price point; HyperX Alloy Core RGB but I like full size KB with media keys. I originally tried the Razer Cynosa 2 for three weeks but returned it. The keys just felt off each time I typed on it. I just feel the Hyper was built better and easier to type on than the CorsairK55RGB & Logitech G213 which were at the same price point.

I also have a razer black widow elite mechanical keyboard.

Macro keys no, I got this keyboard when new and never got around to programing the macro keys, the media keys yes, I use them all the time, and this walmart special has them with the FN key which i hate, i also like how spreadout it is

As for mechanical, I have an OG blackwidow I use at work, and also really enjoy using that, but a blackwidow is out of my price range, I got it at work because someone got laid off and that keyboard got returned with their computer, and of course we can't hand out those keyboards or everyone would want one, its also why my work mouse is a Razer Naga

I have the original G15 which is the exact same keyboard but with a flip top LCD screen. Still works and I use it as a back op KB.

Is what im leanings towards though, i see alot of mechanical keyboards on amazon but none by brands i've ever heard of

I will say I'm also upgrading my mouse at this point, my old MX 518 is a little tired, so I'm buying a new Logitech MX 518 lol
try it out, you can always return it if you don't like it like I did.

Compared to your old logitech, I felt the Logitech had a better resistance feel each time I pressed the keys. Using the razer cynosa I felt as If I wanted to push the key almost through the keyboard when i typed (I type hard so your experience may be different).

All I have to say about Razer is that I haven't heard a single person say something positive about their synapse software.

Yeah their software sucks. That's the sole reason I'm not using a razer huntsmans mini, which was otherwise a good keyboard.

Cherry or something like that. Not sure they've passed the rage quit test though but my backlit MX-1 is just great withouth any RGB

I'd say my experience with Synapse has been meh - not really any notable wins or losses. It does what it needs to (lighting and mouse button bindings) and doesn't get in my way.

I mean he doesn't really need synapse for that keyboard anyway, its basically plug n play from the looks of it.

I use the razer naga 2014 for many years and never once installed the synapse software. the side buttons and pre-set dpi toggles were all I needed. same with the naga x i just upgraded to. i will never need to download it. /shrug

I recommend a kingston hyperx keyboard... sometimes they can be found on sale for 50 bucks... just search different sites. i dunno

(My apologies as this is not a recommendation but rather a warning what not to buy)

Two days ago i bought myself a Logitech MK270 keyboard & mouse combo - "BIG MISTAKE" they were supposed to communicate directly with each other (nope, not happening).
Keyboard: Whilst typing a letter i had to constantly reread anything i had written as every couple of words had missing letters..?!
Mouse: It had a mind of its own.... I'd point to something and it would vanish only to reappear on the other side of my monitor at another point. Gaming was really difficult with this combo, got my character slaughtered everytime i tried playing anything..

So now i'm back to using my old reliable 'Trust keyboard' & my wife's mouse. I'm now in the process of returning the MK270 and awaiting a new mouse a:

Gaming Mouse, PICTEK Programmable Mouse

Let's hope i fare better with this one..

There is nothing quite like the G11. You could just find another one or get a second gen G15. You're not going to find anything of that level of quality or functionality for less than $50 though... However, if you need to be economical, the Logitech K740 is a very solid keyboard. Amazon & Newegg both have them for $60 shipped.

Reviews are generally very positive for that KB. I'm one of those people that prefer membrane to mechanical. I do a fair amount of typing and mech's are just too noisy for my taste.

that K55 looks quite nice, and honestly I have no issues with mechanical vs membrane, my G11 lasted me over a decade as a membrane keyboard, i dislike cheap membrane keyboards, which i think is where most people complain, they buy the cheap one they find at the store, or the amazon basic version that feels squishy and seems to lag behind, but my G11 was a fine example of membrane can be done quite well.

In fact it's one of the best membrane kb I've tried so far, also the wrist rest at this proce point is a nice bonus

Still rocking my Logi G19s I don’t pretend to know anything about mechanicals. That Corsair sounds pretty nice.
