Sapphire Pulse 6700XT for $850, or Sapphire Nitro 6700XT for $925, which would you get? I'm buying one or the other in about 2 hours and trying to decide on which one to get.

I'd get on some sort of in stock alert service (discord, twitter, etc.) and get one closer to retail. I wouldn't even consider that card at those prices.

If you're soliciting opinions....:).

Mine is to be patient a while longer. From my perspective...prices for graphics cards are at the tail edge of their peak. Ensuing demand(even from stimulus checks) in the supply chain will drop off very quickly and "semi-normal" pricing as well as retail availability will return quicker than anticipated.

Best Regards,

Liquid Cool

I'm going to be off setting the price by selling my 2070. I have multiple offers for $600 for it. So the 6700XT should only cost me $250-325 out of pocket, plus the 2070 I paid less than $350 for a year ago. $550-625 actual cost isn't bad for a 6700XT. And that's what I'm looking at. So which one of the two should I get? Is the Nitro worth the extra $75?

purchase made, got the Nitro, and already have a buyer for the 2070 set to come buy it tomorrow (settled for $500 price tag on the 2070 just to get the quick sell)

Neither. That is an absurd amount for a GPU and by paying that price you are only driving up prices. I would buy a used card or a lower priced item. Is there a reason you need that card? I know some games are demading but it is unlikely that the performance bottleneck is the GPU. If people keep throwing crazy jack at comanies there is no incentive to lower prices. Not everyone can afford a thousand dollar upgrades. This is gouging and its lame af.

Not everyone can afford a thousand dollar upgrades.
And when thinking that higher-end midrange cards are on that thousand dollar/euro range when normally you can get a whole 1080p gaming rig with that money..

Well frankly, you wasted your money. That card is not worth $925, it's barely reaching 2080 Ti performance. It's a good card, just not worth that much. That money could have been better spent into a better monitor (than the Samsung TN 4k panel), or better speakers or something. They were giving you justified advice. But since you already got it, enjoy the card..

I spent $4000 USD for a Kingpin RTX 3090. Did I waste my money? I don't really need it for gaming, but rather to help out with the rendering speed of the RTX A6000 for large scenes/caustics since I can use their total combined CUDA cores together in non-SLI for the same render.
There's really not much else we can "legally" do about it until laws are put into place that discourage & punish scalpers and the e-commerce systems/brokers they're using that allow the practice.
Waste of money? Depends. If you need something, whether for a hobby or work, and can't buy it anywhere else, it becomes more of a question of "can it work within your budget?"

Individuals piss millions of $$$ away on "art" that just hangs on a freakin wall somewhere, wine that they'll never open & drink, ridiculously large exuberant houses that could easily house tens of families on an estate the size of a small village so... there's plenty of scumbaggery-level waste going on in the world and I would hardly consider someone having no other option that purchases an over-priced video card as an equivalent when it fits their budget.

We can always choose not to buy the cards at their insane prices, but who do we really end up spiting by doing this? Certainly not the scalpers since the cripple-currency miners will buy them up anyway due to the fact that they use them to make money.

its good you didnt buy it for gaming, because it wouldve been a nearly 300% waste of money

it saddens me that people are buying GPU's at these prices

And what would your suggested alternative be? That I bitch & moan about the prices while going without one when I don't have to just out of sheer principle? I'm not going to kick the can down the road for who knows how long while the prices just keep going up. There just isn't any cheaper alternatives at this time.
Regardless of what the cards are being used for, you're criticizing the wrong people; especially when it comes to gamers willing to spend the extra money. Gamers not buying the cards won't mean scalpers have less sales and its certainly not going to improve the supply. Its not going to make an ounce of difference.

I don't know where the 300% figure is from when the MSRP of the Kingpin RTX 3090 is around $2000 USD on EVGA's website. If it had been 300%, I would've just ordered two RTX A6000's as it would've been cheaper.

If you want to vent, don't do it on the gamers, do it on the asspigs like this guy:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2244436968...MIsqPH-ZPc8AIVCGpvBB31bAxMEAQYAiABEgLw5PD_BwE

I think the above seller deserves to be named & shamed.

So you bought a 3090 for $4k and you're trying to justify it because you do design work. You bought a specialized card (Kingpin) for that, which is utterly pointless. You could have bought just another 3090 for far less.

In case you're not following, he already had a 2070. It's not like he had nothing, far from that. Buying GPUs at gauged up prices is mindless and fuels scalpers as well, as others pointed out.

Yes, I had a 2070, I also upgraded to 4k, which the 2070 struggled with some, so I did need a upgrade. The 2070 also had issues in the way of a failed fan, and something was telling me not to try to replace it (turns out I had the wrong size thermal pads for it, so there would have been issues). I was able to sell the 2070 for a profit, while also making it the lowest priced 2070 I had seen listed. Yes, I had disclosed the issues with the fan and included a replacement heatsink for the card. That offset the price of the 6700XT, which I bought at it's currently listed MSRP. All said and done, I paid $425 and my 2070 which I paid $325 shipped for and used for right at 1 year. While yes, I wish it would have been less expensive, I honestly don't feel $750 is a completely unjustified price for a 6700XT, especially with today's market. I would not have bought the 6700XT without the ability to sell the 2070 for a profit.

BTW, yes, the person I sold the 2070 to was able to figure out the thermal pads being wrong and got the card working with both fans working.

$750 is too much for the performance you get with the card, current market is inane and seeing it normal is, frankly, abnormal.

That said, it's fair to see you replaced a somewhat broken card.

I'm not justifying anything. I really don't need to. All this bickering over me "wasting money" amounts to you being angry that the price of the cards are too high for you to get one. Like I said before, its not going to make a difference whether or not non-miners buy the cards at the current prices. You're raging against the wrong individuals. Even if we all band together and don't buy them, they're still going to sell them at those exuberant prices due to the cryptocurrency miners buying them. Do you NOT understand this? I mean, I'll be damned if I'm going to go without just to assuage your fear that me & others buying one of these cards is somehow contributing to the current market madness.

Yes, its a specialized card and perfectly fits my needs for BOTH case airflow & improved cooling for the card itself. The computer tech I have building my new system was able to track one down through his broker, gave me the specs & price, and I told him to get it. Brand new & still sealed in the box. Maybe for you its utterly pointless; however, this is the kind of cooling I need for long renders, so I don't see your reasoning that "I could have bought just another 3090 for far less". That makes absolutely no sense; especially when considering that all of the other cards are near the same price range and/or do not meet my needs. I would still be paying scalper prices & not getting what I needed by going with a cheaper card. :kookoo:

Money well spent if you're using it for rendering and other 3D tasks. What engine are you using?
