Windows update 20H2

Windows started bugging about needing to update to the latest 20h2 version and how my version (1909) is now EOL. Do you advice updating or not?

Unless you have some hardware issue holding you back, staying on EOL windows is not really a good idea.

Erm, i had similar issue on my mitx. It is 1909, says there are new updates, but none found...
There is a chance i cancelled the feature updates earlier, but i havent find out where can i reenable those

And I note 21H1 (AKA; May 2021 Update) is now starting to roll out. So clearly, you are getting way behind - not a good strategy if concerned about security, as everyone should be.

21H1, while a "feature update" offers new features that are primarily for business and remote users. The majority of the update is more like a "service pack" for bug fixes and performance improvements for existing features. That's a good thing.

I know a few folks who have already updated to 21H1. The update was uneventful - also a good thing.

I HAD to install it on two clients PC's as it stopped 1. From not opening outlook/Word/Excel 2013 till the update was done and rebooted the PC and 2. to be able to reconnect to there Wifi (I had to connect the PC to ethernet and finish the update before it was able to reconnect to there Wifi)......talk about a joke of a update.

What sort of update FORCES you to do the update before your able to re use your computer programs (Office Suite 2013) and to be able to Use your Wifi again????? Stupid!!!

I installed 21H1 with no issues. The beta was tested for several months to get the features cleaned for release.

Install 21H1 asap. Don't hesitate.

I did it the other day and it was so quick and effortless, that I thought it hadn't taken at first. Looking at the version number showed that it had. PC works fine, as it has done for years.

Same here. At first I thought it didn't work, then I figured it must have just been a loader/installer. But no, it was the full update in just a few seconds. Went great with no problems.

I am running 21H1 on several laptops and desktops even my personal rig and there is issues at all that is Windows 10 related.

Only thing I could kill Microsoft for putting up a old AMD Graphics card driver on Windows update that when installed the driver is from December 2020 seriously they should fix this when AMD has made several newer versions even DCH versions

My current driver is 27.20.21003.8013
Windows 10 update driver is: 27.20.21002.112

My computer doesn't even show that 21H2 is available. It might just be Enterprise shenanigans. I was on version 1909 and never saw an update to 20H2, not that it did anything useful, but sucks a bit. Anyway, from all screenshots it looks like this time they ruined file explorer, so I don't necessarily want to upgrade either.

Why use the Enterprise version? The Pro version is plent fine for most users even companies.

For some reason Microsoft decided that when I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro, that I should get Windows 10 Enterprise. It's pretty much the same Windows 10 Pro, but has some features that I don't care about. I discovered that you can disable more telemetry trough group policies and stop any unexpected updating if you want. Anyway, I like Enterprise stuff. I use enterprise Radeon drivers too as they are rock solid. Most of the software that claims to be "enterprise" is simply the same software, but not dumbed down and often has some nice extras. Therefore, if dollars didn't rule this world, everybody would be using enterprise software.

Oh lol I know users with Windows 7 Ultimate licenses getting Windows 10 Pro only.

I got Windows 10 Pro myself from my Windows 8 Pro.

Update. I've had no problems running 21H1, updated from 20H2, updated from 1503.
Yes, I went from 1503 to 20H2. Took FOREVER.

No, it most likely is just a normal timing thing. Microsoft intentionally, and rightfully so, is slowly rolling this update out. This makes sense too. They don't want to break the Internet or over tax their servers and networks. And because there is well over 30 million lines of code in Windows 10, and with essentially each and every one of the 1 billion+ W10 systems out there having unique configurations, rolling such major upgrades out slowly helps to identify and correct any potential bugs that might surface before they have a chance to affect too many systems.

Give it time and it will soon become available to you - this assumes your computer is otherwise fully updated assuring any prerequisite updates have been applied.
