Grizzly kryonaut scratched my new build CPU

My CPU and Aio heat sink got scratches when I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut the scratches are deep I can feel them with finger. I contacted the support the answer I got was shocking "

The one with the scratches is a purely optical thing. The components are still working. The thermal paste contains aluminum oxide which is harder than copper and nickel-plated copper. Therefore, slight scratches could arise. But that's exactly what the thermal paste is for in the end to fill up these bumps. Attached is a video where you can see from what scratch size and depth it would make a difference.

As you can see, there is hardly any difference from an 80 grit sandpaper. We are a long way from you with the scratches. Of course it's not that nice to look at, no question about it, but as I wrote above, it doesn't make any thermal difference."

There was no apologies from the company no any offers to change the product just nothing. I hope my intel warranty still in place? Just be aware that this company dont care they customer.!!!

I can't actually see any scratches in the picture you posted (unless you're talking about those random spots?). And they did provide an explanation as to how the scratches would occur, and how TIM exists to fill the spaces anyway. I don't see any issue with their response.

It happens, doesn’t affect the performance or the ability of the components, it doesn’t affect the warranty.

mirror flat surfaces are still to uneven (as is mounting pressure and socket mounting) and actually small scratches give the thermal compound more area to move into and allow for a closer fit many times, especially with thicker paste and cooler temps from liquid cooling. There have been discussions about the pros and cons of lapping, and unless the goal was to reduce the thickness of the metals to get closer to the die and the actual cooling transfer medium the benefits are within the margin of error for most. Obviously many CPU IHSs are far from flat enough for larger contact area coolers.

What was the reason for removing the cooler?

Excuse my bluntness, but does kryonaut contain some kind of magical hands or fingers or other type of appendages that can reach out & physically scratch anything ?

Or are you trying to imply that it contains some kind of particles or something that is/were hard enough to cause this type of damage ? Because if this is the case, then I guess all those 10's of 1000's of people who swear by the stuff are ALL wrong/stupid/ignorant enough to either not notice it or just said f*ck it & kept using it even though they knew it was messing up their ihs's ?

Something sounds a tad fishy here to me

Hi,
For one thing using 80 grit to lap a cpu is not smart
All you need is 220 grit and then even finer 400 ... until you get to 1000 grit for a mirror shine.
This is all assuming you have a flat cpu block to mount on this now flat cpu.
