I'm sure it's fake, gpuz tells me that. But the problem is, I don't really know what it is, I suspect it's a gtx650 or gt740.

The memory is H5GQ2H24AFR-T2C DDR5 (2GB?)
The GPU is Gk107-450-A2 (refers to gtx650)
vBios version 80.07.D9.00.00

But I've never seen this PCB design anywhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a GT 640, pretty much the predecessor to the GTX 750!

It definitely looks like a Kepler! It looks very safe to say that you were scammed!

report: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/details/h82sd

Benchmarks show that it is a little better than a GT640, GT740, but a little inferior to a GTX650.

I will test some games later. It seems to me to be definitely slower than my old GTX560Ti, but I can't blame it, the GTX560Ti was an exceptional card for its time.

My eVGA GeForce GT 640 OC'ed enough that it performed similar to a GTX 750. The OC, which was mostly the core, IIRC, resulted in a big performance jump in Unigine Heaven 4.0, IIRC.

When I got it back in 2014, it became known as the "GeForce 9500 GT decimater"! The card has been retired, even when it didn't fail during service. They unfortunately become obsolete far faster than even the GTX 660s!

This was the card that was in my FX 8350 (made in 2014) system with Asus Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 (made in 2014, purchased in 2015) (got that motherboard installed during August 25, 2015) until sometime in early-March, 2016, when I was given an eVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti. But, I gave that build away by sometime in May, 2016, unfortunately. (if not as soon as April, 2016!) Because I traded for a monitor, because I didn't even have a monitor that could do 1080p!

Well, I haven't been able to find out for sure who this card is, but its performance is satisfactory for what I paid, I think I'll keep it until prices drop. I don't think I can require a big card to go with my old Core2Quad Q9300, I think my setup is balanced at the moment.

When GPU-Z reports

[FAKE] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

  • Is it saying the card is reporting GTX 650 and this is fake
or
  • The card is actually a GTX 650?

I ask because of the title

Fake GT 1030. What video card is it really? [GTX650 maybe?]

and the original attachment.

GPU-z reports what the card is meant to be, GTX650, and states it is fake.
Generally a fake 1030 will show Fake 1030 in GPU-z.

It appears who ever sold it didn't even bother changing it's name in it's Vbios.

Actually GPU-Z is dumb. I was just testing different video drivers, it just shows the driver name instead of having a database with card ids

Here is a capture using the gt1030 driver

I once had a crap Chinese gtx960/gtx1050ti that was a gts450, it sucked because it lied about the amount of vram, crashing games (could be a good card if the memory didn't lie), but about that crap of gt1030 which seems to be a gt740 or gtx650, I have nothing to complain about the performance, all games work fine, my only recommendation is to change its cooling system which sucks and makes it hot as hell, I added coolers to it, but no In the future I plan to build a new bigger copper heatsink for the card.

I bought it for the equivalent of 28 dollars, here in my contry

I can see somebody tried to scratch off the part number on the GPU, but "GK" and "A2" are still showing. GPU-Z also shows it's a GK107, which was used to make the GeForce GT 630 - 650 and 740.

Its 902 MHz core and 1250 MHz memory indicate a GT 730 OEM with a custom (fake) BIOS.

I don't get it why people keep buying these fake GPU's...... :( :banghead:

Never had the feeling "So cheap , it can't be..."?

Or people forget looking up the GPU and checking specs before buying?

I wasn't fooled, I bought it knowing that it was some Chinese copy, I wanted any video card just so I could have HDMI on my old core2quad.

I live in Brazil, my currency is worth 5.5x less than the dollar, add that to the price rise, and you have video cards that cost the same as a good used car, or 5 months of work for a video card.

A simple 6GB GTX 2060 graphics card costs $1000 over here, do the math!

That's why these boards are widely sold in countries like Brazil, India, Russia, and other underdeveloped countries. The cost of living in an underdeveloped country is very high in relation to what the individual earns from his work.

The cheapest car in Brazil costs 8400 dollars

A simple Honda fit is considered a luxury car around here, costing 92,000 reais, or 17,500 dollars.

Maybe $17,500 isn't far from what it costs in the US, but as I said earlier, the average salary of someone living in the third world is only a fraction of the American salary, that's why judges, lawyers, Latino engineers, drop their professions and tear up their diplomas, to subject themselves to toilet washing in the united states.

An aunt of mine was a renowned lawyer, and worked at a large Brazilian bank. She left everything she had here to live in Texas, she cleans houses, and earns a better salary than she had in Brazil (in addition to much better living conditions).

It's quite common for people to live with their country until the day they die, because most people can't buy a house, sometimes they can't even rent a house, around here it's culturally acceptable. Some people might argue about socialist measures that exist in third world countries that don't exist in first world countries, like the free health care system, but this is all a big lie. Everything the government gives away (paid for with our taxes) is of terrible quality, people wait years for a free surgery (and usually die before they get it), unprepared doctors, buildings made of poor quality materials overpriced in the end... Life is the same hell as always, the only thing we can thank here is the tropical climate, and the absence of climatic disasters.

Sorry for the long text, I just want you to see things from another angle, to fully understand why some people prefer low quality stuff or fakes

Still, buying a fake GPU is always more expensive than buying a real one. A fake GPU can't do the things you paid for, while a real one can. So while a real GPU has a price to performance ratio we can discuss as good or bad, a fake GPU's price to performance ratio is always infinite. Even buying a real GT 1030 would have given you infinitely more value. It's like saving money on a car that doesn't have an engine and wheels.

You are partly right. But a GT1030 would cost me a whole month of work, and I can't afford to invest in it which limits me to choices that cost a fraction of that, the advantage of fake cards is that they're cheaper than their respective original versions. A GT 730 costs half the value of a GT1030, and the fake version of the GT1030 (which is a GT730) costs half the value of a GT730 (actually I paid 1/3 the value of a GT730). With the value of an original GT1030, I can buy new tiles for my house

That doesn't justify buying a graphics card that is unable to do what you want from it. If you don't have money for a car, do you buy one with no engine for half the price? Your fake GPU won't perform the same way as a 730 would because it has no official driver support.

It's better a car without an engine than no car. But in this case, it's just an economy car, after all its performance was satisfactory to me for what I paid

My onboard graphics card was an Intel GMA X3100 that barely ran GTA San Andreas. And before that I had a GTX560Ti that I had to sell due to financial complications

Mense the next, you're stuck in a cabin in winter, you wish you had a PS5, but there's no way you can have it, all you can have is a NES, so NES is good enough

How is owning a piece of metal that doesn't get you anywhere better than using your own two feet that you have to use anyway?

On the practical side of things, does your [whatever it is] run what you want to run on the monitor you intended to use it on?

maybe we think in different ways, i would just put an engine in the car with my own hands, i actually did it in real life.

But in summary, a cheap and low performance graphics card is better than my onboard VGA, and I couldn't spend more than what I paid for it. It has been running GTA IV and Fallout 4 at 30fps, which is what I wanted.

The core2quad is my everyday computer If prices of hardware drop and I can get rid of my debts, in the future I might be able to buy a Rysen with integrated gpu, which should perform well by my standards.

If you have an engine at hand... Still, you can't do the same with graphics cards.

That's why I would recommend a cheap and low performance graphics card - not a fake one. The fact that you can run Fallout 4 at 30 fps is not the result of a good deal, but that of pure luck. You never know what you end up with when you buy fake products. If I can't afford something that I want, I wait a bit longer and buy it later. Buying something that (potentially) can't do the job is just money out of the window.

Completely understandable. What boggles my mind is how the US is probably the world's largest consumer in goods while a lot of its products are being produced in other countries. Where's all the money going? Revisit De Beers & Africa. They became a multi-billion dollar company while those countries yielding all of those diamonds & gemstones are impoverished. Again, where's all the money going?

Anyway, the big problem with buying stuff like that is you really don't know for sure what all they tampered with and it could just as easily fry one or more components in your system unless you're tech savvy enough to thoroughly test it and determine with absolute certainty that installing it won't cause any damage to anything else. I would consider your experience one of the best case scenarios when dealing with hucksters like that. They only want your money while sending you junk. They could care less if you end up worse off than what you were before due to their garbage damaging other parts.

To make sure that a pci express video card won't fry, just use a multimeter grounding the black tip to the metal, and the red tip to the first 3 gold pins of the board (they are responsible for 12v power and is the only way to fry the motherboard), if it has a rear power connector, just do the same tests on the pins positioned opposite the connector's slot

I try my luck with the cards, if I don't like it I just give it back and get my money back.

Buying a reasonable card is completely out of my financial priorities.

About resources, a small group of people own most of all the money in the world. I'm not in favor of communism or socialism, I believe we live in a free world, and everyone does what they want with their money. The real problem is with people who don't have the character who do everything to get rich, including exploiting the weakest. Generally speaking, I blame governments for their bad administrations and corruption cases.

Take Cuba for example, many Cubans blame their country's lack of resources on the US embargo on the island. But they forget that a dictator tyrant seized power, stole American property, and directly attacked the US. In the end, it is always the fault of the one who governs the nation.

Yeah, we can throw whatever "isms" out there we want to, but in the end, failure of a system comes down to the fact that none of them are perfect & will eventually rot from the inside out due to corruption & partiality.

I agree with what you said politics-wise, but that shouldn't give you a reason to risk frying your PC with a janky graphics card. ;) If you save up for a legitimate 1030, or at least a 730, you'll know it will have driver support, and serve you for years to come.

I honestly can't wait for the moment. But let's not go that far in this thread. :ohwell:
