Been watching the pricing on these lately, waiting for Microcenter to do its thing. They’d been creeping down a touch, and they just took another drop today.
5600G: $219
5700G: $300
5800X also might have dropped, listed at $349

Another curious thing is that the site no longer lists “Save $20 on a compatible motherboard,” but if you add both to your cart, you’ll still get the discount.

I just ordered the 5700G and a motherboard. Happy birthday, Darmok.

Too bad there is no Micro center in my area, despite a population more than some states.
Happy birthday and enjoy the build!

Well, it took more work than I expected, but I got it up and running. The first motherboard I tried (MSI) didn't detect the 5700G, and there was no back-flash option. A little annoying, since I swapped it for an ASUS motherboard that had the back-flash option and didn't need it at all. Now it's on to trying to get OpenCL working on Vega. I had no idea it was more complicated than pre-Vega AMD, and ROCm isn't ready for the newer kernels. Supposed to have a new release in October, so hope that does it.

Which board?

I wouldn't trust any of the current boards to have Cezanne support out of the box. Not even MSI's brand-new B550 MAX boards are guaranteed, I tried their new ITX Gaming Edge Wifi MAX which had me running around town trying to find a USB 2.0 drive (BIOS flashback is very picky).

Enjoy the new CPU! Latest iGPU Radeon drivers seem much more stable than they were at times in the past year, haven't had any driver-related issues on my 5700G. 4650G was a bit of a nightmare last year.

Do get HWInfo if you can and make sure the iGPU is running at the clocks it should. Have had more than one occasion on which Vega 7 and Vega 8 randomly had a mind of their own (OC freq not sticking, VDDCR_GFX not mirroring to VSOC, stock freq and stock VDDCR_GFX not sticking). Perhaps latest AGESA has fixed that.

The board that failed was the MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX
The board that just worked out of the box was the ASUS PRIME B450M-A II, which somehow came with 2 identical backplates!

Being on Linux, I can't run HWinfo, but CPU-X shows it hitting 2000mhz. Haven't stress tested it yet since I still need to get OpenCL working.

Same here, when I go to New Hampshire, which is the state next-door! :(
I usually end up getting supplies in western-New Hampshire. (I was born in New Hampshire, anyways) (My family chose to move to southern Vermont)

Well I give up. Just updated the BIOS on the new board for hopefully better support of the CPU (clock management, etc). Flash went fine, set the same BIOS settings as before (not overclocking), used the system for an hour or two, and it just shut down while using Firefox. Turning it back on gets the fans running, but no posts, no other signs of life. Reset CMOS, even back flashing the BIOS does nothing. Can’t tell if the 5700G is cooked or the board failed, but both are inside the return window. She’s dead, Jim.

What sucks is I had just sold off my old CPU, so I’m stuck on a really old board (Kabini) until I can figure out what I’m doing next, but the 5700G experience has been pretty terrible so far. Worked great, when it was working, that is.

WTF! It's acting like a MOSFET failure. (or a diode failure) If it's a PSU failure, it could be a bridge rectifier failure or bad caps.

I can tell you it was not the PSU or RAM, as both of those transferred over to another build with no stability woes. My guess is it was the board, but I just turned the stuff back in and let Microcenter do the product testing. I didn’t have spare parts to make the determination, and it’s 30 minutes one-way, so I elected not to try again. I told them it just stopped working when I returned it.
