Sure when you ask the other person as well who made the same claim before me for consistency sake.

Since I am nice I just checked to verify, so as qubit and I noticed office 365 reports outlook 2016.

I then looked at the change list for outlook 2019, and seen if I could manually verify this, first feature I checked is focused inbox, doesnt appear to be in my outlook, the other one was svg/icon import, and thats not there either. Finally I dont have the choice of three timezones.

I dont care about any of these features, am happy with office 365.

Huh, weird. I thought they separated them... I suppose the 365 features are simply "lighted up" if you have a subscription?

Well, regardless, interesting find.

You're happy renting software? You realize you're spending more money over the long run, right?
If you're only using Office itself on one computer, you'd probably be fine not even upgrading more than once a decade, if at all. If you do multiple devices plus multiple users plus use things like the 1 TB of OneDrive storage, then suddenly the 365 subscription (at least the Family one) looks more interesting.

The business 365 looks like trash price wise, but businesses work at a completely different magnitude of budget than a home user, most of the time

2013 Office will be the last Office I will ever use, anything after that is just a nightmare with having to have a MS account.

True, but with that usage scenario, you getting into a professional arena and personal use is no longer a thing.

Yes, in my case I also use the onedrive part of the deal as well and as it turns out family pack for onedrive is one of the best deals I have found out there (that doesnt require proprietary desktop software). Substantially cheaper than the fabled backblaze, cheaper than other solutions I looked at as well.

The advantage of office 365 is you dont need all the money upfront, so yes in the long run if you have no use for onedrive, you will pay more, but there is value to avoiding upfront expense.

Yeah, I'd still rather use LibreOffice and Dropbox..

Microsoft 365 especially E3 license with SharePoint and Power... is a much better value for the money than buying the standalone office, one can get an easy high paying IT Job Learning 365 with SharePoint with Power automate, Power apps and Power BI and Data Analytics.
