I got a crucial 3600 kit and oced them, I got it to be stable at 4400 18-22-22-46 1.5 volts. It runs that rock stable but wont even boot at anything higher than 4400. I have a strix z490-a gaming and a 10850k, could it be my mb or imc limiting my oc?

Just fyi, I killed my 16gb samsung kit giving them 1.48 (1.5 effective) volts, they started having issues after running fine for like a year with 1.45v so to solve the problem I upped the voltage, within a week I started having random freezes and other issues like random green pixelation on the screen in bios. Swapping to my 32gb kit solved my issue thankfully, the moral of the story is - if you want your ram to last, don't overvolt.

From what I’ve read 1.5 volts it’s fine for rev.e

What did you do with the dead memory module(s)?

To what end? You're not likely going to see any tangible benefits going any higher than you're already at, why tempt fate?

Also...

This completely depends on if you can keep the DRAM modules cool. Heat is the killer of electronics and DRAM is no exception. More voltage = more heat and most DRAM is passively cooled. Seems like the risk to benefit ratio isn't worth it.

It's either a timmings or voltage problem, you may need to increase one or the other or the two.
As far as i read, 1.5v is fine for some modules like b-die not so much for other, so your milage may vary. I never went pas 1.45v, i don't think it's worth the risk versus the extra Mhz that brings you very very marginal gains.

What you say and the screen shot displays are two different things.

It's running CL17 according to AIDa64.

CPU IMC may be limiting. Pull one of the two sticks and see if it'll jump the hurdle in single channel (bin the sticks). Maybe one of the modules is holding the oc back.

A related question: some unscrupulous sellers run RAM as flash (it doesn't last long); does anyone know what sort of voltage this takes?
