I've been trying to find out if there is a way to stop this stupid as hell notification pop ups from showing. Anyone have any help?
Don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with TechPowerUp - I see this install icon on a couple other sites I visit from time to time and the install notification does popup on them, too, but TPU is the one I visit the most often and this damn balloon notification jumps out at me almost every other time I visit the site.
I don't want to install anything. I have no need to install anything. I just don't want to be bothered by this pop up on TPU and a handful of sites I visit.
Chrome is starting to annoy the hell out of me with the awful hover over tab pop ups and now this constant annoyance with the installation popup. Why the hell can't I just hop into the browser and not be eye raped by all the popup crap when I simply just want to browse a few sites? First it was ads getting out of control (thankfully TPU isn't littered with them, which why I really like coming here) and then ad blockers started to become a thing. Now Chrome itself is throwing unwanted and unnecessary balloon notification popups all over with simple mouse movements (hover over popups on tabs) and now this irritation about installing things.
I might just completely abandon Chrome if I can't find a way to disable these things. The worst part part about the install notification, is it stays up on the screen for a good 20-30 seconds, even if I've opened a new tab and TPU is no longer the focus or moved on to a new website entirely, it just sits right on top of everything and I have to wait for it to vanish.
In the flag settings I've tried disabling the tab hover popups, but that flag doesn't seem to do a damn thing.....I can generally avoid that particular irritation by limiting the number of tabs I have open. However, I can't find a way as of yet, to disable this install notification and was curious if anyone might know something I don't.
