Hi guys I'm want to switch my cooler, now I have an old TT frio ( http://nordic.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001600 ) with over in gaming the temps are about 61~67ºC and rendering about 75~78ºC.

The cooler is not so bad, but its loud as a hell. I'm thinking in one of those: Deepcoll gammax 240v2 and castle 240EX, good choice?

Unfortunately, those 280 are not available in brazil. Interesting thing in review was it performs a little better than fuma 2 and I bought one and was a deception:(

Scythe Ninja 5. It's just big chunk of aluminum, comes with two slow fans. Both top out at 800 rpm and are practically inaudible. Don't buy water cooling, that shit is expensive, always louder than proper air cooler, doesn't cool any better, has some silly risks, is less durable and costs several tiems more for same cooling performance. Ninja 5 goes for 60 EUR or 60 USD. You can either do this or just buy slower replacement fans for TT Frio, but that will give you less cooling performance. If you think that Ninja 5's stock performance sucks, you can just put fans from Frio to Ninja and you will get a nice boost in cooling performance.

Swap the fans out?

I've tried years later with some akasa piranhas but the top temperatures increased bit high. The fans of tt frio are very loud, but those things blows a huge amount of air.

So I tested the fuma 2, in reviews it outperforms de ninja5 but my tt frio is almost 20ºC cooler than fuma 2 (even with frio fans). I've seen a good amount of reviews and I'm very confused now, here in brazil its VERY difficult to return orders and I had a huge luck with the fuma 2 wich the slim fans broke few moments after instaled and with this I got a refund.

The prices here is very insane, the most cheap stores here ninja 5 costs R$480, gammax 240 v2 R$420 and castle 24ex R$800 (almost a minimun wage:cry:)

At that point I will say to stay away from any water cooling, it's just not worth it. Your best bet is just replacing fans with slower ones. If it wasn't fucked up country like Brazil, then recommendation would be to find the biggest air cooler and put some slow fans on it. In terms of concept, that's exactly what Ninja 5 is with stock fans.

I actually tested a Fuma 2 on my 6900k. Kept it very cool (60c~max) and is pretty cheap.

Now I use the same cooler on my 2698v4 and that stays cool too.

The problem with big coolers is the compatibility of x99 memory positions, my case dont fit then too, but this not much problem, case its not too expensive. With the fuma 2 I had not so good experience, one memory was covered and if I want to remove the stick I will forced to remove the cooler too. Triple fan in that cooler is impossible.

The tt frio is very compact cooler if you compare with others and I think it holds because of five 8mm heatpipes. The problem is, it's 5 years used and some time the fans will fail, it will not performs like this before. In other hand I have a huge risk to buy a brand new cooler with worst performance. I really want to see this cooler compared with those new top tier because I will be very frustrate to spend R$1300 and performs at same level or worst

Stock as the microcode update locked it down.

So with the tt frio and no overclock temps here are about 50ºC max, the problem with fuma its the max temps with hits 95ºC with over.

You can try over easly deleting mcupdate.dll files in windows system profile ou instaling intel xtu. You set voltage and clocks in bios and on xtu tool you put the sabe base clock in bios. Windows 10 is a really bad joke, if your build will update, you will be forced to do the same thing.

My rig now have problem with memory usage, other issue after eventually 1s freezing in 2004 version:kookoo:

Sadly I can't test the 6900k until I finish the 2698v4 build.

This xeon overclocks or locked one? This unit has 20 cores, it will be a hell if it can be clocked to 4,5ghz, good single core power and insane multi

My 2698v4 is locked. I prefer the 60-70w pull which is why I'm looking at doing dual socket. Maybe once I get that going I can redo the 6900k.

Dude, fans don't fail that easily. As long as they aren't completely clogged with dust, sand or etc. they can last decades. I have stock fan from Scythe Andy Samurai Master, it's like 13-14 year old and it works absolutely fine. It's just a basic sleeve bearing fan. I have some old graphics cards with sleeve fans that are nearly 20 years old and their fans are still originals. And since you have two fans, if one dies, it's no big deal, second fan only increases pressure, not airflow.

I'm usually against "tower" coolers as the mainboard doesn't get any airflow, but if your case ventilation is adequate, then go right ahead, as long as clears all other components.
