RX 580 BIOS Mismatch

Hi All,

What a resource this site is...
I'm experiencing sudden crashes to solid color/no signal/coloured static with my rx 580. Usually triggered by 3D load but will sometimes get into a phase of crashing out on boot (usually just black screen) or win desktop.
I've snooped around and seen people saying this is a driver issue, I'm running latest optional I believe 2021.1109. Saw some other people saying above 4G decoding was a cause for instability so have that on now to seemingly no effect.
I haven't tried reinstalling drivers since doing this.

I backed up my bios with gpuz and checked the hash (018249eff9fdd91acabf3bdc7bf2da0c), it doesn't match any in the database or the one it should be (51208fa878e1b15b6b38f16f3c6d541b).

I did have a look in gpuz in Advanced->WDDM where it says my BIOS is 115-D000PIL-100 which I googled and found:

However when I'm looking in the AMD software, the BIOS Date matches:
Additionally, when I uploaded the BIOS to gpuz it confirmed this card.

My question is, I don't believe the card has been intentionally flashed to a non-stock bios.
Considering the risk in flashing, is it common for these to mismatch/am I likely to benefit from it?
I have flashed before but this is a card a friend gave me that I can't afford to replace.

Thank you

Hello
Please be so kind and put the following pictures here:
- GPU-z
- Stickers from the card (labels)

We need those in order to narrow the search for a correct BIOS for your card.
If your card have a non original BIOS (usually modded for mining purposes or for overclocking) then for sure we recommend an original BIOS for it.
Flashing a card is almost 100% sure.
So yeah... we gonna assist you in the process.
Cheers

looks like gpu/memory issue, if you lower gpu clocks with afterburner to lets say 1100mhz core and 1600mhz mem, will the card be stable under load?

I've set the fan min at 30 degrees to around 10% which seems to have helped, it was struggling to reboot after an hour of stable gaming... It had the 0RPM mode enabled by default... Will try underclocking if/when it crashes, thanks.

Changing clocks didn't help (at least if afterburner is to be trusted) and fan wasn't really helping :/ Thanks impero

did you try underclocking the vram too? from 2000 down to 1500-1600. Try running unigine heaven stock core and stock vram, measure the time till it freezes. Rerun 3 times to get even results. Then downclock to 1100 core and 1600 mem, repeat the test. Again make 3 runs, and then compare the average results (stock vs underclocked). If it makes some difference then you are moving in the right direction.

You could also try the stock wattman to downclock, if you downt trust afterburner. Just make sure that it actually lowers the clocks (keep gpuz sensors opened while testing with unigine heaven).

Hello
Please be so kind and save your current BIOS to a file.
Keep that file in a safe place for further needs.
After that you will try to flash one on the files we provide in order to test if it is a hardware error or just an incorrect BIOS written in it.
Below you find some files that match your card :

Flash them one by one and do some tests.
Keep us informed.
Cheers

Your power supply isn't causing the issues? It only happened after driver update? Is this a new (to you) card?

EDIT: Popped this other PS in and it ran furmark fine the first time. Will keep updating if any changes. Thank you all very much there's no way I could ever afford another card right now.

I will be trying power supply after this but I find it quite weird that the BIOS doesn't match any of those listed. I've run the card in another PC and it seemed more stable, though I can't recall entirely. It's new to me and so is this PC, the friend who gave it to me was having issues - the m.2 had something happen with read/write permissions but seems to have been fixed with format/reinstall. I have a 550W supply that I can try but not sure if it will be enough for gfx+7700k (stock clocks). EDIT: It's plenty.

I tried flashing in DOS as tutorial recommends, atiflash says "no adapter". Tried the Win32 flasher and didn't seem to flash at all. Tool shows these same image sizes after flash. I don't understand how they can be different sizes but same CRC... I will try the linux flasher in a moment.

Underclock was pretty limited in afterburner (and I don't want to mess with extended limits for now). No effect.

Thanks impero I used the first one there.

Forced flash via ubuntu. First try said the bios was already on there so I did -f. No change. Trying the spare power supply I have now, can't recall if I was having problems with this it or if replaced the one that was... Can confirm that current bios on the card is now same as https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/201185/asus-rx580-8192-171125

Good luck! Hopefully it's a PSU draw issue - easy and relatively cheap to fix. VGA Bioses aren't my game so others will have to help, though your findings on that front so far seem more perplexing than clear.
