I put a graphics card i bought from eBAY in my Pc, It is properly seated like it should be with in PCI slot, With the PCIe connector facing up to the fan and the clip on the bottom to the circuit board.I turned it on all i got was a flashing orange light on the front of the case.No fans spinning .HDMI cabal plugged in to the graphics card and the monitor of course.I disconnected the Pcie cabal and it is working. o_O I have had the graphics card for sometime not ,so if it isn,t working i can,t send it back.:(I know i should have tried it earlier.:(Hopefully
someone can tell me what the problem is.The seller said it was in “Perfect working order..”

Sadly, you told us nothing about this computer to include which card. We also don't know anything about your PSU.

You need to verify with the card's manual its power supply connections, then verify you have the correct cable or cables from the supply to the card.

You must also verify your PSU has enough power to support the card and the rest of your components.

You mean GT 430 (not x). This gpu doesn't need a PCIe cable so your PSU isn’t tested with that cable. Since that PSU is the lowest quality EVGA sells than I would test that on someshing that you know works. By the number of post made about the faulty eqiupment you bought second hand lately that might not be easy. So cable, PSU or GPU. Mix with good parts to eliminate the faulty one(s).

Yes I know that was the one I had In there. when I bought it from eBay the PC is working fine I was talking about the one I got off eBay 7850.
The PSU was bought new from Scan Computers.:)HOT SELLER 500W EVGA 500 BR, Fully Wired, 80PLUS Bronze, Single Rail, 41.7A, 120mm Fan, ATX PSULN90862£44.99. The only thing that was faulty was the PC I bought on there. before I bought the current one:(. The CPU I bought from CEX was not faulty it just would not work with the old PC I have had for years. I should have bought the GPU from there to and could have taken ir back if it did not work.

Best of luck in the future with PCs, you seem to need a lot. Yes I know that you bought it from Scan, I also remember that I wrote long time ago that that particular PSU was crap. They will only guarantee the advertised performance/time at 30° C, their next step is 40 and the good ones 50°C.

Then permanent damage may have occurred then.
I tried the other PCI E plug. I did the same when I put the PSU in but that did no harm to it putting the plug the wrong way that is:(

There is nothing wrong with the last PC I bought there. :)

Something is getting lost in translation. How do you know no harm? I am not necessarily talking about physical damage. When a connector is put in wrong, there can be damage due to the wrong voltages going to the wrong circuit. And if that happens, especially at these relatively low DC voltages, the damage often is not visible.

The HDMI cabal not working does not work on my PI4 or on my PC.VGA is working fine on PC.

Well, the PC is working fine I did the Dell diagnostic, and no problems. :)I can,r do any on the GPU of course. I did upgrade the BIOS the other day, I wonder if I can do anything on the settings in the menu.? The 7850 does not have a VGA connection. I have one of these, adapters. I wonder if I should the top image lead *Meter DVI-I Male to VGA Male Cable Converter Adaptor Lead for TV PC Laptop*

Someone else with the same problem
I get no signal, but the fans turn on and the HDMI is connected. Please tell me everything you know.
Answer given
*I would check your BIOS to make sure your settings are correct. Sometimes it's something as simple as your "primary video adapter" being set to "Onboard" instead of "PCIe" I will give this a go as I did not do it.
*Replacing an Existing Card If you are replacing an existing graphics card, you need to
1. Start the computer and then uninstall the old graphics driver.
2. Turn off the computer and then remove the old card.
3. Install the new card and then connect the monitor.
4. Start the computer and then install the new drivers and software.
5. Restart the computer.

What connector?
You have to be more specific.
Are you using an adapter on the display cable to the monitor?
Was it the PCI-e power cable you forced in the wrong way?

Please provide more info (system complete specs, steps you already tried, etc). And also some of the background, did you make sure to check if the gpu is problem-free prior to purchasing? (all you need are 2 photos: gpuz screenshot and furmark 30 min. Photos should be taken by the seller. That is not a scam-proof strategy by any means, but it would definitely help.

For now, i wouldnt worry about the "crappy psu" and the "power hungry graphics card which is not getting the powerrr". 1) its a branded psu which can deliver stable 400W. 2) HD 7850 is pretty efficient, as it consumes same W as a 260X. And i used a 260X for a year or so with just a 300W psu made by FSP. And it didnt trigger OPP under load. (cpu was a E6600 at 4ghz, and later i3 6100, when i swapped the platform. Its an office rig mind ya;)). 2.1) Upon bootup, the graphics card doesnt utilize all of its power, so to just power up a system with 100W card you can successfully do so with just 60-70W provided to the card, it will work in 2d just fine. But under load (furmark, games etc) the psu will trigger the OPP (or self combust if its gigabyte). https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-hd-7850-hd-7870/24.html btw HD 7850 consumes 100W when maxxed out.

The PCI e one, on some GPU,s they are connected a different way round. The clip is facing up on my card.
. On the second one the the clip faces down to the cir-cut board..
. The HDMI connection does not work even on my PI4 i tried to cabals. Only the VGA connection works.I was wondering if i got a DVI to VGA lead perhaps that would work rather than the adapter i have tried to use.Are there problems using adaptors for GPU,s to monitors?

the graphics card only goes one way into the pcie slot (that big slot), it's impossible to plug it in the wrong way or upside down. in those 2 videos they are exactly the same way, with the fans facing down.

it's usually fine to use adaptors, i did it. if you tried several cables it could be the hdmi port that doesn't work anymore, it's happens a lot

all you have to do is remove one gpu and put in the other, its that simple. even if there is no cables to monitor (no cables involved) pcu should start just fine. fans should spin, whatever lights there is should turn on. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the graphics card you just bought.

You got me wrong, everyone knows how to put a GPU in. o_O I was talking about the 6 pin connector to the GPU some of them have the clip facing the fan on the card, as mine does, and others have it facing down to the circuit board. It certainly seems to have a bad connection it can,t be the cabal because I had the same problem with another cabal I tried.
I get your point, I hope you are wrong about the GPU:(. What I am going to try is this
And the second thing I will try this if removing the drivers does not work.

you really have to force it to enter the wrong side, they have a protection to prevent that. if you did that and powered the pc then you know why it doesn't work

aren't the cables connectors keyed? as in, how the fuck did you force it in the wrong way? the only possible wrong way would be 180* flip which puts the clip on the wrong side which if that doesn't prevent it from staying snug, I thought the pins have a I guess you would call it asymmetric shape to prevent someone from putting it in upside down?! see 4 of them are shaped a bit like a house with a flat roof if you will....I don't see how anyone could stuff those in upside down without the aid of a sledge hammer. I'd honestly be impressed if you did manage to do that lol

I have taken it out and put the old one back in to remove the drivers for it. Funny enough the HDMI cabal is working at present. o_OHere it is clip facing up to the fan. And in the slot.No fan spinning, :(I should have tested it when I got it.I got it more than 2 months ago. To late do anything now.:( You win some and lose some.

aren't the cables connectors keyed? as in, how the fuck did you force it in the wrong way? the only possible wrong way would be 180* flip which puts the clip on the wrong side which if that doesn't prevent it from staying snug, I thought the pins have a I guess you would call it asymmetric shape to prevent someone from putting it in upside down?! see 4 of them are shaped a bit like a house with a flat roof if you will....I don't see how anyone could stuff those in upside down without the aid of a sledge hammer. I'd honestly be impressed if you did manage to do that lol
You really underestimate users force. "Oh, it seems to be stuck?? welp, looks like I'm gonna have to use these monster triceps to force it in boys! everyone stand clear!"
The amount of destroyed ports I've seen backs up my claim, from HDMIs that were square to ripped parallel ports, ravaged SATA hard drives, upside down CPU power connectors, cracked graphics cards... and the best, a lady that asked me to check on her computer because it's not working anymore and turned out the plug was missing a pin, told me her husband had "fixed it", the guy's fix was inserting a nail into the socket and when you inserted the sole pin plug it sorta made contact and sent power to the PC, that was both genius and extremely stupid.

Anyway, if that happened I'd say the card is toast. Also, trying to transform HDMI (or DVI, unless the card has a dedicated A output) into VGA by using cable adapters isn't gonna work, it needs an active converter, at least that's what I was able to reconstruct out of the 4 or 5 comments mentioning the HDMI cabal
I'm converting HDMI to DVI to analog and it certainly works when you have the right gadgets and cables.

lmao I actually refer to that "life finds a way" quote often. that movie is full of memorable lines actually!

inline with the Jurassic Park theme, I think the comment would be more like...
"Oh, it seems to be stuck?? welp, looks like I'm gonna have to use these monster triceps to force it in boys! everyone stand clear! hold on to your butts!"

People actually go to losts of trouble to make all kinds of saveguards on electronics and especially computer parts for people not to connect stuff the wrong way.
This things can happen, but in the age of the internet and especially YT were you can learn how to make everything from bombs to cakes, it's really troublesome that kind of thing happen.

Is this the right way to connect the connecter,?. When I connected the PSU 4 pin connecter the wrong way after nothing happened, I just plugged it the other way round with no problem at all. Of course, there is no way of telling whether the GPU was working when he sent it to me.

like you can see on skizzo pictures you can't really plug them the worng way, and if you forced you probably killed it, and it isn't fair to go complain to the seller. You made the mistake now own it.

It is too late for that anyway, I got it over 2 months ago. So I wasn't going to complain to the seller. I put it down as a bad job. :(
