Yeah there's also Persona. Both make good money in western markets, shoving in NFTs into the next Persona or Yakuza would be a PR disaster.

In other words, Sega is on a mission, like many other companies, to surround an NFT with something that is not perceived as money making. Its still money making though. Just can't be perceived that way. In other words, add another layer of marketing and you're done.

Take note of the fact that an 'immersive experience' (that critical layer to avoid 'simple money-making' accusations and give people a dumb excuse to buy things) in many publishers' handbooks is already drenched in microtransactions like skins, boosts and whatnot. Sega is luckily not the worst offender, but yeah. This interview says just about nothing.

Don't kid yourselves about it.
They'll do it like all the rest, it's the perceception of it that matters as this points out. They don't want to be seen and viewed as part of a/the problem but at the same time they have NO problem with it being part of their solution about raising profit margins.

Registering a trademark can take up to a year, so it's likely that SEGA NFT tm was applied for back in January or February.

Have a sample and check the filing and registration dates

More than likely SEGA applied for just in case, like every company out there does

They need to bring back Virtua Fighter, VirtuaOn, Fire the Current 3D Sonic Team and Bring back the SA1 team along with The Taxman (Christian Whitehead)
