Unknown decoders in the Advanced tab

Hello !

I tried this on Intel, Nvidia and AMD cards. When selecting DXVA 2.0 Hardware Decode option in the Advanced tab, the last decoders are always titled "Unknown".

Is it possible for TPU to update the encoding names ? Can this options also show hardware encoders please, next to the decoders ?

With the introduction of RX 6500 XT by AMD, which is missing some encoders and decoders, I believe DXVA option from the Advanced tab in GPU-Z became more interesting to the users.

Also, if I select my second GPU (not used and not connected to any monitors), the option for DXVA 2.0 Hardware Decode simply shows "Adapter not found". Can this be fixed ? Or if this limitation is expected, can the error message be more clear about it ?

Yes I can update them, but first I need to figure out their names first, based on the GUID. Any ideas?

Any idea if other apps are able to use the codec hardware of this 2nd card? GPU-Z really tries to create a context and queries that for its capabilites

I could not find them either. Sorry, I just assumed they would be allocated and standardized in a public registry of sorts. I am extremely surprised to find nothing about them, not even from AMD.

Other applications are able to use the 2nd card, se DXVA Checker. I also like how that application lists possible rezolutions all on a single line, and with the acronyms instead of the numbers:

SD / HD / FHD / UHD / FUHD
480p / 720p / 1080p / 2160p / 4320p

Some table view like that would be much more helpful in GPU-Z for sure

Does this page help at all? I was trying to find what API AMD offers. NVIDIA has a library specifically for their NVDECODE acceleration. This link is a slide deck with mention of a few technologies that might be the AMD equivalent. OpenDecode was my best guess, though this looks old (Win7 was mentioned).

They don't make finding video tools easy. I tried to follow a link and it was missing, but led to a more CPU oriented developer area.
