Need a 2TB NVMe SSD, and looking for a good bang for the buck drive. Currently I am looking at the following in 2TB:

SK Hynix Gold P31 at $208
Team Group MP34 at $185
Crucial P5 Plus M.2 2280 at $208

Looking for reliability first and foremost. Anyone have trouble with either Hynix or Team Group SSDs in the past? SK Hynix is a large manufacturer but I never used any of their consumer branded products before. From a real world speed perspective (mainly games and storage), is there are noteworthy advantage to getting the Hynix?

Crucial P5 Plus seems to be middle of the road performance wise. Is there any reason to get this over the Hynix? Or any reasons not to buy the cheaper Team Group MP34?

Any other suggestions would be welcome to.

I'm using a 1TB WD black SN850 Gen 4x4 for games, silicon power 256gb Gen 3x4 for boot, and a sata Sandisk 2TB SSD Plus for storage. What do you need the 2TB for? If it is just for storage, a sata SSD is good enough imo

Seems like they downgraded the controller at some point. Probably still a good drive, but wondering if it is now inferior to the Hynix or Crucial.

1.2 TB? Is this 2008? I have two games that are around 140GB and 170GB. 4TB is ideal for a game drive but they're just very expensive at the moment.

I would get the P31, but you will be happy with any of those.

Actually, one of the best "bang for your buck" seems to be this WD Blue:

Prices are probably different, but still a good value.

Can't find a 2TB version sub $240, so currently more expensive than the other options. Hynix seems to offer the best performance, but all of my SSDs aside from one Sandisk 2TB have been Crucial and they all worked great. P5 Plus has higher Max Read/Write on paper but doesn't seem to matter much in reality.

just for games and storage you don't need the blazing fast speeds (until we don't get the microsoft direct storage that is), just don't get fooled by the ones that are so bad you could just as easily get an HDD.

I am using the Crucial P5 Plus (500GB) as my main SSD and it is great, nice software support as well (incl. free Acronis True Image). I prefer to use 2 or 3 drives rather than one huge drive.

Benchmark Scores I dont have time for that.
Out of those the crucial is on micron chips and given that it’s middle of the road in addition I would probably get that for myself. I run the 2TB P1’s in my home lab and they take a beating from VMs and DBs. They have been fine for a few years now.

I wouldn't recommend Crucial & because they were one of the companies that secretly swapped TLC flash with a QLC in one of their SSDs. So when they are dropping their prices a lot, you kind of need to know what they might be up to. I'm using addlink's S70 2TB because the TBW is the highest, it's been 3 years and it still has 73% TBW left, super durable! I just checked the price and it's at $219 lol, still way more affordable than I first bought it though. ($310-ish)

Team Group isn't the brand that uses high quality components.

I'm not sure about SK Hynix, but if you care about the durability you can check the TBW, if you care about the reliability, just don't buy the cheapest one.
