"You heard right. For h264 (which is what Twitch etc. use), Nvidia is the better choice. Radeon has a much better h265 (HEVC) encoder than Nvidia, but that's not relevant to streaming since few (if any) sites support streaming in h265.

Recording on Radeon using h264 isn't an issue since it's possible to crank up the bitrate to compensate for the encoder's lack of precision, but that won't work for streaming with a site like Twitch that has a maximum allowed streaming bitrate.

I don't think you have a clear understanding of what's going on here so I'll just mention the "NVENC" encoder on Nvidia cards and let you Google it...

in the meanwhile, a properly adjusted 5900X will rock through basic low detail H264...

Seems like there might be some truth to this claim. Issues like driver timeouts have caused streamers' games to fail. You don't want your game failing mid-stream. It also looks like the HVEC encoder can mess up your stream when switching between games, which causes lag and stuttering. Watch the video on youtube by Lawrence Harris discussing these items.

ye after looking into it, its to much of a risk with stuttering streams and I will be buying a 3080 12gb from msi

At the rate you're streaming, AMD would do an OK job as well tbh. Though Nvidia would perform better, but like, no need to go as high as the 3080. It's not a great priced card unless you can have it for a sensible price tag.

Im waiting a little longer but an Oc 3080 12gb from msi for under 1k is good enough for me.
