Hello everybody! :)

I buy a new laptop few days ago and have some heating issues. I know, a laptop is not at its best to cool down enough. Anyway, I try many tutorials and stuff from youtube and internet and I have still high temps. :-/
On my older laptop (MSI GT72VR 6RD) I have not so much heating trouble. Of course there is an older and slower cpu in the GT72, but anyway, I had cool him down good enough without bluscreen and other stuff like EDP Other and Thermal Throttling.

I have no idea what you guys need, but tell me and I do my best to give the infos you need. :-(

TS Bench mostly goes over 90° and sometimes I have bluscreen or freezing screen.

My goal is under full power temps of maybe under 80°. Is it possible?

Pls help! :-(

Regards

Tobias

Try undervolting core offset by -50, if it work try 10 more. Usually you end up between -50 and -150. Try undervolting cache aswell, try same here. If you use iGPU/optimus, you may not be able to UV cache as much. Setting a powerlimit on 45W can be smart aswell.

Biggest improvement will be UV of GPU. Try afterburner, flat curve at 1500@700mv, usually gives ypu 90% of performance, but consumption drops by 20-40% which helps a lot on temp.

Hey, the undervolting doesn't anything. Had to try new cooler paste (Kryonaut thermal grizzly) and it doesn't matter.

Have no idea how to undervolt the gpu with the flat curve.

Maybe somebody can tell me, if my settings in throttlestop are ok?

If nothing works then I think the laptop goes retoure. It´s an amazing gear, but the temperatures are horrible.

Undervolted in bios or throttlestop? How much?

If you lookup in cpu mon do it read -85? Sometimes MSI software overrides throttlestop. Another explanation can be that you are powerlimited stock and all throttlestop does is makes cpu run faster (for instance 4.3GHz allcore with UV vs 4.0GHz allcore stock) hence same temps.

In which cpu monitor?

Okay, and what MSI software as an example? Idk whats going on here. :(

Dragon center may interfere, see readouts on hwmonitor.

Check allcore clockspeeds when running cinebench with and without undervolt. If allcore speed is higher with UV it is working. You can access advanced bios to lower tdp/clockspeeds in bios to lower temps.

Ok, no matter what I try, nothing works. Im out of this sh**!

Have UV over BIOS, UV over TS. Try another cooling paste. UV the GPU in MSI Afterburner but it seems NOTHING works....

In this case I really think about to give the laptop back to the seller.

Anyway, here are my actúal settings in TS. And a screenshot from the TS Bench and MSI Afterburner. TS Bench and Cinebench...no matter what....on any of these Tests I get Temps arround 94°C and over. And then the throtteling on GPU and CPU starts!

Have you activated the unlock option in advanced bios? Post a screenshot of hwmon, there you can read offset.

Yes, the overclocking option is unlocked and the overclocking performance menue too.

Here a screenshot from HWMonitor.

Its curious. When I export pictures from Lightroom, i get temps of 94-95°C , before I had temps between 75-85°C. Whats wrong here!?

@unclewebb can you help too? :respect::cry:

A normal start from the laptop pushes the cpu temps at 87°C. Thats definitely NOT normal...

When I work with Lightroom and export stuff as example, I have GPU and CPU throttling, yellow and sometimes red. New "record" was 97°C.... -.-

Offsets looks good. What package power do you get in lightroom etc? I would consider lowering package power, 45W short/long tends to work fine.

You mean CPU package power in Lightroom? 67-69.9 w ! 45 long and short are to less, I have try that few time ago.

Okay. Am I stupid or something?

Right now I have first GPU thermal yellow in TS then CPU begins second thermal yellow. I just export Files/Pictures from Lightroom to SSD. Then the GPU thermal first. Why?

Here a screenshot from the LR Export and TS.

45W will help temps a lot, but you only lose a few percent perf in apos. Maybe 50-60W PPT is okay, but 70W seems a bit too much for your cooling system. UV can't fix that if your cooling only handles 65W sustained before reaching 90C.
