Which lists the Liquid Devil in the photo, but at the bottom of the page shows text of Red Devil Ultimate.
The problem is that PowerColor keeps reusing their IDs, so we can't distinguish between both

Sorry to reply on an older thread, I just didnt want to create a new one.

I just have a question to Powercolor 6900XT XTU owners, and it is kinda this same topic:

Does the card even HAVE a real dual bios?

Cause, when I switch between OC / SILENT on the card (while PC is shutdown ofc) - NOTHING really happens/changes.

All data in GPU-Z (clocks etc.) are exactly the same, AND I get the same results in several benchmarks.

I wonder if anyone can clarify, cause I am a bit worried that a 1000+ EUR expensive tech product doesnt seem to function as advertised...

Try to upload both BIOSes to our database using GPU-Z, it will report "duplicate" and the filename.

Note the difference in power limits

Thanks for the quick reply.

Strange, cause in "Silent" Bios my card still draws exactly 303.0 W (max), according to GPU-Z sensor and AMD driver overlay.

Will try to check against GPUZ bios database later, as you suggested.

Help in further understanding is much appreciated!

Edit I found this: the exact thing I am experiencing as well, quote from "The PC Enthusiast" review of XTU: (bold by me)

"Near the output port is a BIOS switch. You can select from OC or Silent mode. When OC mode is selected, the GPU boosts up to 2425MHz and runs at its rated ~300W TDP. However, when silent mode is selected, the GPU boosts only up to 2335MHz and the TDP is limited to around ~270W.

But the specific unit that I have here doesn’t seem to have a “silent mode”. Whether I switch it to OC or Silent, the clock speeds remained the same. Perhaps my card’s switch is faulty or has the same settings on both BIOS. Nevertheless, I don’t see any other issue with my card, as it hits the rated boost clock speed and TDP."

I just checked mine. 303w PPT on the OC BIOS, shutdown, changed to silent, powered up and 272w PPT on the Silent BIOS.

It might be worth a clean reinstall (not upgrade) of the latest drivers and reset any tuning you've done, and try again.

Gpu z has to be closed and re opened to see the fresh results.

I did already, with an exact summary of the problem, the reply is not helpful at all apparently:
QUOTE:
Dear User,
The Navi boards using AMD's dynamic overclocking mechanism.
So the max clock might different between any platforms.
We would suggest run some benchmark, check the power limit, and the graphic scores.
Thanks for your inquiry from PowerColor website.

ENDQUOTE

On the weekend, I will hopefully be able to do a clean reinstall of the system, and then check again, as weekendgeek suggested.

I'm torn between letting it slide (if it's a faulty tech) and returning the card. I really like the card, no coilwhine, good temps, good noise, and ofc very powerful (haven't yet checked on OC potential tho).

Arrgh............

EDIT Question: In case they only used 2x the same BIOS, and it's not a faulty switch, will I be able to patch the Silent Bios where it belongs from the files above, without much hassle? (have never done it...)

Hi!
Very busy weekend... but I have a result.
Yes: It WAS a software (driver) issue! Reinstalled whole system (Win10), with the newest AMD driver (WHQL).
I am really happy now, new tech works as it should. :):D
Help here much appreciated guys!!! :rockout:

Ok do a OS Image back up or set a system restore point before Winblows 10 decides to grab an update that could bork the OS.
