Hello everyone.
So today I upgraded gpu from gigabyte gtx 1060 to msi rx 6600 mech x2 8gb. The problem is when I want to shut down pc it immediately turns back on after 3-4 secs. If I put back old gpu it works normally. I came across internet to similar topics from people owning same gpu (msi mech x2, xt or non xt) and same mobo manufacturer, gigabyte. So far nobody found a solution, at least didnt post it in threads. It's pretty weird, seems like some incompatibility between that specific gpu and gigabyte motherboards.
So far I have updated bios to newest version and cleared cmos. Also freshly installed newest drivers after that. I used DDU in safe mode to clear system from nvidia drivers. Also did some tweaks in windows like turning off fast startup and changing some registry values, nothing did the thing.
I'm about to ask seller for gpu replacement for other brand but before that if anyone has any input on this it's very appreciated.

What is the condition the gpu is in when you bought it?

Whats your ram?

And Yes Gigabyte and MSI are laughable in quality today.

Try the card in a totally different system and get back to us, if it works there then it's a problem with your motherboard and that particular gpu.

Thanks for reply.
It was brand new gpu. RAM is Crucial Ballistics 2x8gb, working at 3000mhz although the factory clock is 3600mhz.
Ok so i'll look up to try it in different pc. Anyway I would rather rma gpu if its possible or sell it than keep it and change motherboard, so to avoid the whole process of reassembling everything.

This is starting to get ridiculous. I have the same gigabyte z590 ud ac motherboard, 11600k and MSI rx6600 Mech 8gb graphics card. I also did some of what you said (except Bios update and CMOS cleaning) I couldn't get a solution either. I can't send it back because I ordered from abroad. I wrote to Gigabyte esupport 3 days ago and I haven't received a reply yet. I'm waiting. I suggest you write too. The problem is in the motherboard. Those who changed the motherboard can shut down the computer without any problems.

Apologies if I'm repeating things people have already tried in those threads, but have you tried turning off everything in the bios that is capable of starting a pc back up, regardless if it seems related? (wake-on)

If there's an option for what to do when power is lost: set to always off.

Also make sure Windows is actually programmed to turn off and not sleep when shut down.

My pick is the board. I have found that Gigabyte boards can exhibit absolutely weird Gremlins after changing hardware. Try taking out the battery and then re-inserting it. See if that fixes the issue.

Put card in another system if problem stops then your motherboard is sketchy, and Id suggest returning the mobo and get another. (not Gigabyte)

Even MSI boards are flaky these days.

Thank you for answer. Honestly, I didn't make any changes because nobody on the net told to change the bios. I once broke a motherboard because of bios changes. That's why I didn't change anything. I looked in the bios I think it had something to do with the power settings. I'll look after work.

I noticed in this gpu specs that it has 4.0 x8 interface. However, mbo is 4.0 x16. I know it should work normally so only 8 lanes will be used, but it crossed my mind if this could be the cause in any way?

Nah, could always try manually setting the PCI-E slot to 4.0 though.

I recommend using Hibernate mode and also Sleep mode to see if the behavior is any different. Might help gives some clues to what the root cause is.

My advice if you have Gigabyte mbo, just don't touch MSI MECH.

Simple, don't use either Gigabyte or MSI. Glad it works though.

i have the exact same problem with the msi rx6600 mech and gigabyte 560m motherboard but i put a msi mech rx6600xt in there and problem disappears - i also put the 6600 in a msi 560m m/b and it loses sound but again with the rx6600xt mech it works perfectly????? glad to see someone else has the same problem - even with a higher chipset - i have an 11400 cpu btw.

Hello.
In my case, i have a MSI Z270 SLI PLUS motherboard with XFX RX6600XT video card.
Last month just out of a sudden my computer started to act strange.
I pressed the shutdown button in the start menu and my computer all the time did the restart procedure.
I managed to read a lot of forums until i solved my case.
I just disabled Hibernate and Sleep mode from Power & Sleep settings.
But that was really strange.
But now it works as it should
