i have the drive brand new
my motherboard is the asus b450m plus gaming with the most current bios with ryzen 5 3600 cpu
i tried to install the drive both in the m,2 slot and on a pcie adapter and tried with a usb adapter to no avail
the drive will show in bios and will show in device manager however
the drive will not show up in disk management and will not show up during windows install
i have downloaded samsung magician and it will not detect the drive even while the drive shows in device manager
samsung nvme driver package will not install says no device connected
i am at a loss and cannot figure this out my computer currently runs without issue with a wd blue 512gb nvme so i would assume a samsung shouldnt be any different as far as settings go,i have tried every different combination of bios settings and nothing works
any pointers or help would be greatly apreciated

Hmm, have you checked in "control panel- System and Security- administrator tools- Computer management- Disk management" to see if it's recognized and can be initialized and formatted?

If not, give it a shot and then attempt to run Samsung Magician.

If that doesn't work out, I would think it's a bad NVME drive.

Dang man. I was really hoping you would see it. I have to think it's a bad drive man.

I'd for sure start an RMA on that and either get your money back or at least an exchange for another one.

Is it the 980 Pro?

The 980 m.2 ssd is brand new this year so maybe you need a bios update for the mobo? Can you try a third party utility like Easeus Partition Master to confirm if it can be formatted/detected? The 980 from what I understand uses system ram to accelerate read/write operations rather than a ram chip on the ssd, so maybe ram could be affecting it? Maybe try with an xmp profile if you aren't already.

i have easuse and it does not detect the drive ,bios is fully up to date, and xmp has no effect

i even went as far as downloading the iso for the firmware updater to run it and it just comes back that the firmware is up to date

Did you install it properly? Assuming you did also try a Linux live boot iso & see if it's detected there, or really any other "live boot" CD. Before sending it back exhaust all possible options.
