When AMD revealed their 3D Vcached processors for the first time I was disappointed that they only introduced the option for the 5800X.
But it seems now a 5600X3D will also be coming:

I'm looking forward to seeing how this processor performs vs a vanilla 5600X and at what power consumption.

5600X3D as an upgrade is very appealing. Now all that's got to be right is the £300 price tag and I'll be grinning like a loon.

It’s more like 96mb plus 96mb, you don’t get the full 192mb for each core, it’s just so each cluster has the full amount but it’s not additional.
They better be able to do 2000 FCLK or I will be miffed :)
I wouldn’t bet on it, mine didn’t even do 1900. The IOD isn’t improved at all.

mmhhh i was planning to go 5700X to get 2C/4T more than my actuall 3600 ... oh well, might still go that way if the 5600X3D is more than 286chf (the medium price of the 5700X for me ) :)

The good thing is that the X3D isn’t really dependent on Ram speed. 3600 is easily enough.

To me a platform is only dead when you abandon it :)

I just got my first AM4 system 2 years ago, and I bought my second AM4 board just a few months ago, so to me its alive and well, and will probably be for the next couple of years. If they drop a CPU that is better than mine in every possible way.. I might purchase it..

It has been such a pleasure to use. I was with Intel for over 10 years and was quite hesitant in giving AMD another chance but.. so many people had good things to say, I had to try them out. This has been my favorite platform to work with so far.. and I just have B550.. I haven't even touched an X570 board before :D

To me it’s dead when it’s hopelessly outdated, which it is not by far yet.

Oh this sounds extremely interesting. Specially as I would think AM4 was a dead end by now and AM5 coming soon.

Does that mean I can maybe have a chance for a 5950X3D and a rtx 4080 or maybe 4080 ti this year. That would be awesome. Time will tell.

Does that mean I can maybe have a chance for a 5950X3D

Yes, that's seems what will be happening, if these leaks are correct (and @Greymon55 seems to be a reputable leaker).

From my perspective it shows that AMD desperately needs to test a 2-chiplet CPU model with the 3DV-cache "in the wild" before it releases the Raphael-X at the end of the year. [Probably the real problems which made AMD not releasing 5950X3D (there were some rumours this had something to do with the windows sheduler) are sorted out now.]

Which sort of confirms that Raphael-X will not be just about the 3DV-cache but that it will be a much more important architectonical change, like increasing the max core-count to 32 while introducing the big.little architecture (Zen4+Zen4c or similar). This can only be done if you put all of your L3 on a separate 3dv-stacked chiplet and place your Zen4c cores where the L3 previously was on the CPU chiplet...

This was apparently planned for Zen5 but it seems that AMD will have to accelerate this if AMD wants to compete with Raptor-Lake having 24C/32T...

Pretty sure this won't happen for a long time yet. AM5 is upcoming and they won't do anything until that's embedded.

Pretty sure this will happen. AMD needs the 3DV-cache to be able to increase the core count by freeing the L3 from the CPU chiplet and it desperately needs to test a 2-chiplet 3DV-cache design before it goes further.

Please note that the 3DV-cache is only a minor step in their plan and bringing more cache is just a neat side-effect. They clearly need it for other purposes - like to bring in their version of the big.little architecture and so on.

It seems that there were some technical problem (which AMD didn't want to speak about) which prevented it from releasing the 5950X3d (and maybe 5900X3D) parts earlier this year (well, actuall the whole 3DV-cache project was postponed a bit on the desktop anyway) and that they will have sorted out this problem now (which they really have to, given their plans).

Even if they clearly want to concentrate on AM5, they clearly need to have a 2-chiplet 3DV design tested in real products soon.

The question is rather what the availability and price of the 5950X3D will be...

the 5800X3D already has a substrate prepared for a second die.

Do you a picture of 5800X / 5600X for a comparision?
It would be pretty awesome if it´s going to happen. That will prolonge my investment in AM4 even longer than first intented.

They better be able to do 2000 FCLK or I will be miffed :)
Doesn't matter. High speed ram isn't necessary with huge VCache. I am also interested in a 5900/5950x3d.
