Samsung 980 (1TB non-pro, paid it way too much at the time for what it is)
The very first version of the Cooler Master 212 (terrible design: you had to unmount it in order to change the fan since the brackets was screwed on and under the rad)
Some Samsung SyncMaster monitor (bad/failing capacitors - still alive, I replaced them)
Asus M4A87TD/USB3 motherboard (failing audio and USB)
My old platform in S775 (even if my Q6600 lasts me 11 years, limited to 6GB of DDR2 - can't get it to work with 4 dimms, I had some terrible moments at the end - swap/OOM)

I had a Samsung SyncMaster 226CW (I think that was the model) and the colors on it were great and had no other real issues.....expect around the 4 year mark when the image would blink/flash, like the monitor had a bad backlight issue. Sometimes it would take several minutes for the image to stop flashing....other times the image would vanish, like you powered the monitor off. Turning it off and back on generally fixed the issue. Like you, I had come to find out the capacitors on the power board were junk and bulging. I find a company that sold capacitors for monitors and purchased the 7 pack of capacitors for around $20 with shipping. Spent around 60 minutes pulling the monitor apart, removing and replacing the capacitors and the monitor ran great for another 5+ years.

I regret giving Razer a chance with the 2014 Razer Naga. Bleh, what a piece of junk. Many issues before the warranty ended and it literally broke 2 days after the warranty. Razer gave me the middle finger and even with all the support tickets I had opened on the mouse, they didn't care, they wouldn't do anything since it was out of the warranty period.

I regret my wife spending over $300 on the iPod (5th gen, I think it was. It was the first iPod that had the small color screen and you could play videos on it). Damn thing's HDD crapped out on me shortly after the warranty. To replace the HDD would cost more than buying a new one. I personally never spent a dime on Apple products for myself again and that was 12+ years ago.

Thermaltake Purepower 600, years ago I was looking for a PSU and saw a thermaltake PSU at radioshack and ended up buying it and it worked for a while but eventually it went pop and took out my Asrock 4CoreDual with it it(wonderful board with PCI-E and AGP.

Geforce 4 MX440, when i was still in school my parents had gave me some cash for my birthday and i went and bought a MX440 because it was a Geforce 4, . . . . . right. I then went and gloated about it at school and was then someone told me it was a hacked up Geforce 2 about 3 months later and thats when I realized it was just hacked up Geforce 2 on speed with a few extra features:(.(learned a lesson that day)

You get what you paid for.
They should at least run at the speed you bought it.

mmhhh, i'd say, n.o.n.e.

even if quirky buggy ditzy fuzzy sketchy... there are literally 0 piece of hardware i would considered regretting buying ... maybe i am just an overly positive happy go lucky tech nerd

oh wait, ANYTHING RAZER aside the original Boomslang, Copperhead and the current Tartarus V2 i use (thank you Belkin for the Nostromo SpeedPad n52, FUDGE you Razer for being the brand continuing the great legacy of that one ... well ... thank you too :ohwell: i really should have kept my OG N52 ... )

Intel Core i7 12700K and i9 12900KS. A couple DDR5 boards. Sold them at a little bit of a loss and went back to Ryzen 9 5900X.

Was thinking of trying to future proof, but the hybrid arch was buggy for me and DDR5 also made Alder Lake run hotter for me in contrast to 3600Hz DDR4 at same CPU VCORE and LLC and frequency both with Asus motherboards. And those e-cores were just terrible at most things except some productivity app lifting to help the already great P cores.

CPUs were awesome 8 core parts with the e-cores disabled, but I really wanted a little bit more than 8 good cores, so I regretted buying and trying those things. But I sold the at a loss and moved on back to 5900 with 12 strong cores even though none of its cores are quite as strong as Golden Cove, you get more than 8 and gap between Zen 3 and Golden Cove is not near the Conroe IPC lead over K8 16 years ago when dropped anyways. Just wish Zen 3 could manually clock higher.

I think I will switch to Zen 4 and sell my Zen 3 when released and my Zen 4 system will be my future proof rig for years to come as from what I hear it can clock high and I will not have off and on buyer's remorse of things from having 8 5GHz cores on air that have 11% better IP or 12 cores that only clock 4500 to 4700MHz manually with 11% lower IP which has caused parts swapping. I think my frustration will end on that with Zen 4.

Some of this stuff I had was when I was in High School, some while in my 20s. My current Sig Rig and the 5800 rig I built Last Christmas are flawless.

Regretted getting an OCZ Vertex 2 60GB back in the day when they were current (2010/2011?). The OS responsiveness increased dramatically compared to my prior Seagate HDD RAID 0 but it would suddenly become unbootable with unreadable file system. Would reformat fine and run fine for weeks at a time, but I got bored of it happening after the 3rd time and retired it.

I had a Kingston A400 480GB that did something similar. Would damage the filesystem to boot off of it (it would work once), but CHKDSK fixed it. Rinse and repeat.
Clean Windows install worked fine, but for the situation, I had to clone the OS off of a hard drive. Ended up buying a Teamgroup AX2 and it worked fine.

I must admit I have one of those A400 480GBs in an external USB caddy plugged into a Playstation, and it saw earlier use as PC game storage, but I never used it as an OS drive. I've been lucky with it so far but I have read other horror stories with those too - seems that Kingston might have kept changing components between batches but using same firmware. I probably wouldn't risk buying another tbh!

It worked great with multiple installs of Windows, just the one cloned over from an HDD borked it.:confused: It was cheap, but kind of annoying.

i had a 2011 Vertex 3 120gb, second hand paid 36$, that lasted more than 9yrs weathering multiple dirty swap and clean install when i retired it end of last year it still did show 95% health  and the Vertex 2 in my Netbook (crappy Samsung N150) is also nearing 12yrs usage.
iirc the Vertex 3 had the same reputation as the Vertex 2, that should make me extremely lucky o_O

i am still struggling to find a hardware purchase i regreted other than "anything Razer"

It worked great with multiple installs of Windows, just the one cloned over from an HDD borked it.:confused: It was cheap, but kind of annoying.
This isn't a general problem is it (i.e. cloning an HDD installed OS to an SSD)? Because that's what I recently did.

I must admit my later Vertex 3 was much more reliable, but the 2 left a bad taste. Samsung SSDs have been faultless (so far!) for me in recent years

Razer laptop (2020 Blade 17 Pro).

Wifi was droppy so I removed the back panel with the intention of reseating the wifi card and checking the antennas were popped onto their connectors properly. Instead, I'm greeted by a cracked slot that the wifi adapter was loosely sat in. My analysis is that some gorilla over at the factory inserted it at a far-too-steep angle, and far too hard. Then they'd used a "warranty void if broken" sticker to sort of sticky-tape it together, which obviously failed over time. I didn't touch it further, but took plenty of photos and opened an RMA.

After about a month of arguing where Razer accused me of damaging it and wanted about £1100 to repair it, I told them to send it back without the repair, immediately went to our accounts department and told them to close the Razer account, we were never using them again. The fact that I wasn't a single user and this wasn't my laptop but one of about 50 identical laptops purchased by me for the company did nothing. I regret giving Razer £100K of company money, because that was shockingly bad and they absolutely stonewalled me from the very first email after the RMA.

Razer are a piece of shit and always have been (this isn't the first or even second time I've been burned by Razer, but enough time had passed that I thought they were better and reviews of the laptop were good from multiple sources. It turns out that the laptops ARE good, but that doesn't stop Razer from having truly shitty, corrupt customer support. I'd fight it and win in the small claims court if I could be bothered, but I have better things to do than that and it's not my money I'm fighting for)
