What's normal idle temperatures for X570 chipset? I noticed my idle temps never drop below 60, is that normal?

Asus Tuf X570-P (Wifi)
Ryzen 3600 w/ wrath prism cooler
16gb 3600mhz cl18 (corsair)
Rtx3070 EVGA FTW3
P400A mesh case w/ 6x corsair QL120 fans (drive bays and hardware removed)
750W Gold EVGA g3

Screenshot 2021-03-19 155922.png

I know the chipset fan is right up against the GPU, but I'm sure they designed around that. Also, Does anything else seem off with those readings? I've had random issues with this PC from the start. I don't see any hardware faults, was going to do a fresh windows install when the next bios update comes out for the USB hot fix.

Edit Note: GPU idle temps are high due to evga's eco mode. If I run the gpu fans at min speed the gpu temp drops to under 40c.

What range would be considered normal under load? or rather, what temperature under load would be concerning?

I’ve seen up to 65C for that sensor with PCH fan off but I have a 120mm case fan under GPU to blow air into that area.

D8F504F9-A581-45DD-8183-3BDE4168866C.jpeg

Also this temp is not the one controlling the PCH Fan and it’s not the one reported in BIOS.
My board has 2 chipset temp sensors on HWiNFO.
One that fluctuates between 50~65C and another that fluctuates between 40~55C depending load and ambient temp.

Gigabyte software SIV (System Information Viewer) reports the second and lower temp as chipset temp. And the PCH fan responds to it.

Max operating temp for chipset is at least 95C.

So far max I’ve seen on my X570S is 56C which is pretty good for no fan when my X570 with the fan set to it’s maximum performance was always 61-62C as my previous post was on X570.

What specific corsair ram do you have? Need the model, you can get info from hwinfo64

And keep the gpu from using eco mode

Mine idles at 42c but I have the BIOS set to run the fan more aggressively. I can honestly say that you cannot hear it two feet from the case. You literally need to put your ear up to my case to know it is turned on at idle.

All in my specs. I run a "Retro Mod" so I just have 1 intake and 1 exhaust but 2K Noctua Industrials. oh and a small 92mm Redux top fan. I have added the PCH to my "main page" for monitoring so I can keep a better eye on it.

. Maximum x570 chipset temp is 90c

15w with a little aluminum plate, they run warm. 60c is fine. 80c at load is fine.

But at least the manufacturer installed a backup plan (the little noisy fan)

Funny people aren't accustomed to chipset fans. This was something to be desired a decade ago!

This guy get it! I remember trying to find a replacement fan for one of my Abit boards after the bearing gave out...
As for my temps I just gamed on it for about 30min on a game run off my 2nd M2 NVME(controlled by said chipset)so I can't think of a better scenario and it only hit 54C I would have to check tomorrow for my idle temp as it is passive and takes quite some time to cool back down.

There was so much negative sentiments for the chipset fans that it influenced the board makers to have the X570S without a fan. To me it is ridiculous that a $400+ board does not come with a fan as a feature. I have a X570 Gaming in my HTPC and have the fan on. I have never seen the chipset go past 45 C.

Some time ago, they used to heat pipe the NB to the VRM package. Would have a VRM fan packaged in the box for those running liquid coolers.

Today it seems RGB has replaced adequate cooling features. Lol

They complain about the fan, then make a board without it, then it runs warmer.

It's a big south bridge vs north bridge. Back then the NB was the hotter chip. 70c I think was where the fan would really start spinning up. But most of the time only if you over-volt to like 1.7v.

But I think with enough case flow 80c and less should be just fine. Nothing to worry about!

Problem with almost all the designs is the fan was basically blocked by the GPU so was starving for fresh air. When I was looking for a replacement X570 the only board I saw that actually took that into consideration was an MSI that had it mounted at the "Bottom" of the chipset block where it was unobscured. I just ended up with this X570S by luck as it was on sale and in stock as the options for affordablea, available boards at the the time was very limited. I never had any real "issue" with the fan I just wasn't a fan(see what I did there? :p) Of my PCH being the 2nd hottest component in my rig after my GPU, Heck when I did the last upgrade I Kryonaughted my GPU and it actually would have been cooler most of the time than the PCH of my previous X570 Auros Pro. This is my first MSI board and I have been quite pleased with it's performance. my primary NVME runs cooler under it's very large heatsink and of course the PCH remaining at much lower temps without needing the fan. Also as a bonus to me has almost no RGB on it at all...

It's a big south bridge vs north bridge. Back then the NB was the hotter chip. 70c I think was where the fan would really start spinning up. But most of the time only if you over-volt to like 1.7v.
It's funny and we really didn't even worry about those temps back then just if it had a fan, made it sure it was running...

Lol, yeah I keep an eye on it. Back then gaming and such, not really. Just used it, everything was fine.

I wonder at what temp people actually worry about temps.

For me it's been the exposure of the AMD GPU Junction Temp...since Fury it has been the bane of my existence...I wish they had never shown us that evil temp...Literally seeing it hot enough to boil water is enough to make anyone cringe...

Haha, yeah boil water, cook and egg, warm your house during the winter....

I run my rigs open air. Fans on everything lol. But I'm trying mostly to accomplish benchmark figures. So occasionally a Dice pot :)

It's funny and we really didn't even worry about those temps back then just if it had a fan, made it sure it was running...

:)The worst fan design had to be the X570E Strix as not only the GPU but the shroud would also go down by 15 degrees by removing it. Regardless I would still rather have the fan on than no fan at all. Thinking about it I got into watercooling my GPU when they started getting humongous. I struggle to understand how the 4080 and 4090 are so much bigger than the 3090 even though they all draw about the same power.

Haha, yeah boil water, cook and egg, warm your house during the winter....

I run my rigs open air. Fans on everything lol. But I'm trying mostly to accomplish benchmark figures. So occasionally a Dice pot :)
I run a case from 2007 with just a single intake and exhaust yet with my CPU under custom water. I have always been able to maintain good temps for I think at least 5 different builds/generations. I do miss my Thermocouple tho I was spoiled to be able to hang in the middle of my case and see my ambient temp in there. it was rarely over 35C except on the hottest of days. But as previously mentioned I run 2K Noctuas. I have always been Thermals over Noise. I game in 5.1 I can't really hear the case howling away anyway but right now sitting idle it's just the sound of the 3 old 2 pin 1300rpm rad fans I can hear...long since gotten used to that sound...

Yeah, I have some screaming Delta fans. Thick bois too. Two things, loud and dangerous. Take a finger off with one of those bad bois!! Haha.

I just can't do a case. I swap hardware way too often.
