Critique the potential heir to my current i5 3450 build

Hi, I'm finally upgrading from my current build (i5 3450, 8GB DDR3 1200, HD7850). It still works fine, but I feel it's time for an update.

Budget: 2200€
Purpose: Office work, internet browsing, video recording/encoding/editing (not streaming), occasional gaming and emulator use.
Already have: 1080p 144Hz monitor, kb, mouse.
Overclock? only memory XMP profiles, not CPU

Intel option (PCPartPicker Part List)
CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor (€359.90 @ Datatronic)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler (€40.00)
Motherboard: ASRock Z790 PG LIGHTNING ATX LGA1700 Motherboard (€222.90 @ Datatronic)
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory (€159.90 @ Jimm's)
Storage: Kingston KC3000 2.048 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (€182.90 @ Datatronic)

Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 215 ATX Mid Tower Case (€104.90 @ Jimm's)
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x (2021) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (€212.90 @ Datatronic)
Total: €2123.30

AMD option(PCPartPicker Part List)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (€268.90 @ Datatronic)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler (€40.00)
Motherboard: ASRock B650 PG LIGHTNING ATX AM5 Motherboard (€226.90 @ Datatronic)
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory (€159.90 @ Jimm's)

Total: €2036.30

Initially I was dead set on a 6800XT, but due to local pricing a mere 80€ extra will get me a 6950XT. I know it's overkill for my gaming habits, but if I got a 6650XT instead, then a 13600K or a 7600 cpu might have been overkill for that GPU (and some games might become cpu bound if this benchmark video is anything to go by).

Will wait for the 7800x3D to come out to see if it's any good (or if at least lowers non x cpu prices, in case x3D ones go for some outrageous MSRP).

Initially thought about using DDR4, but between mobo and memory, it's just a 100€ price difference, so I'll lean towards D5 (even if I feel it's gimmicky and not a big impact for the average user in everyday use cases outside niche workflows and benchmarks).

Also, I don't care about upgradeability, as you can see by current setup, I'm ride or die with my builds, I'll stick with this for a decade and then buy a new one altogether.

Any tips or suggestions? Parts that stand out and should be changed? (not too wild about spending even more for GPUs, but any other parts are fair play)

Thanks!

No chance where you are for a second hand RX6800/XT around half price of the 6950XT listed or just not interested in such venture? Only as a cost mesure.

Platinum PSU in the same budget?

the GPU could be replaced with either a 4070 Ti or you go cheaper with a 6800XT (which is overclocked within like 2-5% and costs a couple hundred bucks less)

Over here cheapest 4070 Ti is 1000+€ and cheapest 6800 XT goes for 759€

Not a lot going on second hand up here, checked the most popular local forum and prices were quite steep, only 100-200€ off retail price (plus no 6800XT on sale).
Will look into platinum PSU.

Surely you can find a 7900XT for not much more than that 6950XT.

Finland (the issue is basically 24% added value tax)

Off topic, but that's not the whole picture. If you're anything like Sweden prices for most things are still pretty close to mid-pandemic levels.

Here's a few alternatives to have a look at. This cpu down below goes head to head with the Ryzen 7600 in gaming and chews it up in multi threaded apps. Keep in mind Nvidia is due to release the RTX 4060, 4060 Ti and 4070 in early March.

Gigabyte B760 GAMING X €215.00

Intel Core i5-13500 €289.90

DeepCool AG500 BK ARGB CPU Cooler €40.90

Corsair RM750x (2021) 750W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply €148.90

https://fi.pcpartpicker.com/product...-16-gb-ddr5-5600-cl36-memory-kf556c36bbek2-32
Kingston FURY Beast DDR5-5600 32GB (2x16GB) CL36 €151.90

I Would Suggest Radeon Pro Enterprise drivers
The issue is, it runs on OpenCL instead of CUDA, and the devs don't optimize for OpenCL as 95% of users are running Nvidia.

It kind of sucks but there it is.

You could technically use the stock cooler with the 7600 for gaming and then that gets you pretty close to being able to go with the 7900XT puts you about 26 over budget.... Considering the 7900XT will get support for much longer I think gong 30 over budget is worth it

is there a point of going ddr5 at this point?
i was under the impression that short of very specific use-cases ddr4 will do the trick just fine while saving you a buncha bucks

If you're going with DDR5, it's sensible to go with an AMD processor, intel upgrade path is just not there, but AMD's 7000 series are hot furnaces.

Yep. Without it a 7900XT would be 862,10€ or a 6800XT 570,62€. Getting bled dry here
Yeah that's why I'm still waiting this out. 6800 XT looks like the most enticing offer but near 600 eur is too much in 2023.

All markets are adjusting price downwards. GPUs will follow.

If you're doing actual work with your GPU then don't buy AMD.

You don't need a 1000 W PSU, 750 would be fine.

Asrock mobos aren't great.

4070ti would suit your needs better.

1080p is something to upgrade from. 4K would be better for you.

For €200+ you can get a bequiet! Ti rated 750 W which would be better.

Also, I don't care about upgradeability, as you can see by current setup, I'm ride or die with my builds, I'll stick with this for a decade and then buy a new one altogether.
Upgradeability means a whole different thing today. When your i5 3450 was new, there was no point in thinking about upgrading, as neither brand had any upgrade paths that made much sense, and core count never seemed to change.
Socket AM5 gives you the option to upgrade to newer CPU's, more than a couple of years from now (AM4 lasted five years for retail, from 1800X to 5800X3D).

It's an option. You don't have to upgrade, but it can't really hurt being able to.

Also, if 4070 Ti is a better choice, you can almost fit within budget: €2 205.40

If you use your new Alder/Raptor Lake system for 4~5 years it's not an issue...
