Abigale is decent starter and you'll have plenty of options to spawn it

let us know your thoughts, apparently the game is a shit port, not one of the good ones. come on Sony you can do better than this. shame.

*edit*
The biggest problem I've had is the same issue that the Uncharted collection has (same Iron Galaxy port studio). If you're using mouse/keyboard, there's an incredible amount of micro-stutter when using the mouse to move the camera around. Using an Xbox controller is smooth as glass. Changing Mouse Raw Input on/off had no effect. Irritating as Phuk.

Setting a hard fps cap in the nvidia control panel pretty much got rid of the stutter with mouse movement. :)

No crashes, but I also let the shaders compile (about 10 minutes worth) before starting to play. The game is a resource pig. 1440p Ultra hits 100% GPU utilization at 120 fps.

Going to try Linux. Uncharted played better using 'nix. Ugh. :banghead:

*edit*

Installed just fine under Linux and setting Steam compatibility to use GE-Proton7-53. Crazy how games just work now.

I've never played the game and I don't really want to do it with a controller. Going to try Linux. Uncharted played better using 'nix. Ugh. :banghead:

I think that must be a intel or nvidia problem, because I have Uncharted on steam as well and it runs smooth as butter on my all AMD system, in fact I don't recall seeing a single microstutter in Uncharted.

Nope. Same on the 7700x and 6900 XT.

It literally doesn't happen when using the controller - as in pick up the controller and move around - smooth. Put the controller down and move the mouse - stutter. There's a huge thread on Steam about the issue.

hmm, I am trying to think about what I do do different than other people, only thing I can think of is I cap fps 5 fps below my monitor refresh rate and leave vsync off and freesync on.

i literally have had 0 issues with Uncharted. strange. also I set Rivatuner to "Medium" on its hooking mechanism, I don't use default setting which is low.

that's really all that I do that might be different from most people, so perhaps you can try that and report back?

I'll try a manual FPS cap in the nvidia control panel and see what happens. One of the posts in the Uncharted discussion mentions that as a possible fix. Five more GB of download and I can try in linux. Thanks for the suggestion. :toast:

Edited post above - Hard cap in the NV control panel was a big improvement. Cheers.

let us know your thoughts, apparently the game is a shit port, not one of the good ones. come on Sony you can do better than this. shame.

Seems most complaints are with crashes, long shader compilation and poor optimization with the PC port.

First you need to replace the decompression library (v2.9.6) as it is bugged. https://www.nexusmods.com/thelastofuspart1/mods/11

After going through the building shader simulator, the game runs pretty well for me at 2560x1440. Cinematics and animation looks good, as is the game play and character movement so far.

Graphics looks beautiful with RX 7900 XTX.

It's important to wait for the shaders to build 100% before attempting to play, so patience is a virtue,.. the whole process took about an hour.

Overall the game feels decently optimized.

They should add a warning about building shaders in the title screen, not doing so may cause potential issues. This will only be present on the first time booting the game.

is the game capped at 60 fps? or can you actually take advantage of high refresh smoothness?

I guess the console game has 60 fps cap.

On PC the Avg. performance PC Specs: is listed as 60 fps @ 1440p, and Ultra PC Specs: is also listed at 60 fps @ 4K. There are frame cap options, and a host of features designed specifically for PC.

If you have the hardware,.. yes you can take advantage of much higher refresh smoothness, you will need an incredibly beefy system to play with everything maxed.

1440p Maximum Settings FSR OFF:

LOL. Eight to ten hours... the real ARPG prologues end at about 20 odd hours, then you start figuring out what the game really is. But that's where Wolcen just ends. And that's the same problem that Torchlight failed to tackle, other than the extremely limited class options. Its also the prime reason D2 fans still speak ill of D3 - itemization and viable build options are just very shallow.

I've got over 300 hours in every single good ARPG... 700 in Grim Dawn. 500 in Path of Exile. And in the latter I've still only scratched the surface. But I think Grim Dawn nails the formula best - just because it doesn't really push you to min-max everything, but rather pushes you into finding new combinations and playing around with changing damage types, many of whom open up completely new options in new class combinations. Big part of that is the class system too; just combining two opens up so much on its own.

Wolcen is kinda lacking that special sauce... but still, thanks for putting that thought in my mind. Might still play it again someday, reading above that bugs are fixed and things overhauled.
Well said. You are a true adept at ARPG, the refinement in Grim Dawn can only be appreciated if experienced. I love the D3 analysis and absolutely agree that there were no Weapon or Item Buffs that felt visceral in their use. I have most if not all ARPGs available on Steam. My love for ARPG started with Zeliard on DOS. D2 was so good it got ported to consoles. The issue that most modern ARPGs have is they are not varied enough to separate from the given formula. Victor Vran stands out because you can jump but the World is not open enough. It brings me back to Grim Dawn. POE feels like a grind to me and I was overwhelmed the first time I saw the tech tree but the Boss battles are challenging . Torchlight 2 and Titan Quest hold a special place because you can finish those in a weekend of intense Gaming and have plenty of OMG moments. Of course that credit was earned playing Diablo or Diablo 2 all weekend back in the day but Grim Dawn is just is like an onion that keeps giving and I am not even near finished that.

Wolcen is fun like Torchlight in terms of pickup and play. You also get a ton of items and have dual wield from the beginning.

I play other Games too though and Spacebourne2 is great at the RPG element but I wish it had the Combat Mechanics of Everspace 2. Those 2 Games have made me even forget that I have a Star Citizen subscription. I did watch this week's Episode of Mandalorian though and have an urge to load up some Squadrons.

I also still enjoy Division 2. If I just want to blow off some Steam Just Cause 4 is an excellent way to do that. I really wanted to enjoy Gotham Knights but no. Guardians was good and Spiderman is pretty good too and I haven't really touched Avengers since I did the Campaign the first weekend. I don't buy Battlefield or COD but Halo Inifnite (Gamepass) was ok and the first Doom I enjoyed more than the 2nd. I want them to make an updated and expanded Red Faction: Guerrilla.

My Kryptonite though is TWWH3 Immortal Empires. I grew enjoying Fantasy Novels, The Elfstones of Shannara was my Grade 8 Independent project (I actually read the Sword of Shannara when I was 8). My father is a history buff so I have that bug as well. I totally got into TW, only because I bought Preatorians before I ever knew TW existed. TWRome was my jump on point and that Game blew me away. Medieval for someone who grew up reading books about Alfred the Great and Edward the Conquerer was like discovering sliced bread. I had that moment you have when you really enjoy a Game when the Mongols sent 3 Armies to Siege attack my fort city (Antioch) and my troops only survived the last line of defence. Shogun 2 was the most fun I had with a historical TW Game and that is where I discovered Radious Mod.

I knew about Warhammer from Dawn of War and only thought of it as futuristic fiction. When I saw the News about a TW Game based on a fantasy line i was excited. The first time I used a Dragon's breath to mow down a row of Archers it had me. Then the spells are no different than what you find in a good ARPG but are so much stronger. There is a fire spell in the Game that if done right can eradicate any units that come into contact with it. That is the Game I play more than any other but TWWH is actually 3 Games and a ton of DLC. The best thing about it though is full mod support. Campaigns, factions, heroes, buffs, debuffs you name it. Unlike the other TW Games that are based on human there is much variety in playing as another faction including Elves, Vampires, Mummies, Dwarves, Men, Beastmen, Lizardmen, Undead, Mummies Dark Elves, Trolls.....

Haha I'm actually firing it up right now. Yeppp... Best rendition possible of the Warhammer universe. I doubt we'll ever see this achievement repeated. Hopefully a 40K... TW in space... I'm wet already, although I reckon the engine, and technically, there are some big hurdles CA needs to cover to get there. Its a real shame there isn't a really good strategy in 40K other than Dawn of War. Most of the rest is turnbased and quite a slog, even the recent Gladius isn't quite it, although enjoyable to play each race once or twice...

When I was I believe 14, I played Total War Shogun and got hooked on the formula. I did play Warhammer tabletop at the time... and I dreamed many dreams about those two concepts getting married at some point. It was just obvious to me. Had to happen. When it did, well you can imagine :D I think I'm closing on 1K hours on Mortal Empires campaigns.

Thanks for putting me on the path of Spacebourne2. Too bad its EA... but damn, I want this.

For me it was 1-hour the first boot-up,.. now It takes at least 10min-15min,.. they released a patch today that might help some folks.

Would be crazy being a Reviewer and having 30-test systems, so much time wasted watching shaders progress to bench graphics cards.

I've been revisiting Dying Light: The Following and the buggy is the best part of it, negating fast travel and actually a lot more fun than doing that. The monsters are crazy, especially the ones that cling to the buggy and I like the challenge of liberating a safe house. But it's getting a bit samey now so I'm installing State Of Decay 2 on Game Pass, which I've heard is pretty good. @rtwjunkie also raved out it.

SoD2 is great! Dying Light in third person and with some party members covers it adequately.

My brother and I thought about getting SoD2, but when we read about the coop experience of it, it sounded kind of lame how they have it setup so we avoided the game. You're tethered in game, you can only be so far apart from each other. So you guys can't just split up and go exploring wherever you want, you are forced to stay within a set distance of each other. Also game progression doesn't transfer to anyone, only the host keeps any game progression on their save.

I really liked State of Decay and wished it had coop and when I heard coop was coming to the second entry I was excited, but after hearing how they implemented it I lost interest in the game.

I only play single player and it's looking pretty good so far.
