I played a few of them in the past, but lost track of which one has the coolest effects. Side note, there was one of the older demos, graphics were quite advanced for its time(Underground2?).
Before Hot pursuit. Just checked, there are 31 releases of NFS since series began  . Carbon looked cool too.

Underground and Most Wanted (original, not the later reboot) are my favourites :)

Linux

FreeBSD

Windows & macOS

The reason I get 517.3 fps in this game on the highest settings with an outdated GTX 650 1GB is mainly because it has no anti-aliasing and similar settings.
The game doesn't look very sharp, but it's fun to do benchmarks with. An RTX 4090 with an i7-12700KF@5.2GHz gets about 1350 fps in this game on the highest settings.

I could and still can't get into Diablo type games. It's the point and click crap. Realtime hand to hand combat NEEDS a controller. In an FPS or RTS type game, mouse & keyboard are King! But in an ActionRPG/ActionAdventure, hell no..
This can be solved in most operating systems by using AntiMicro.
I have a super old Logitech - RumblePad 2 and I must say that it still works perfectly for how old it is and is very comfortable for playing games like Tomb Raider 2013 on FreeBSD.

Diablo II and Diablo III were very big successes in their time.

Although Diablo III was sold 30 million times, almost everyone who played both prefers Diablo II.
You can also see this when you compare the ratings of both games:

For many, Diablo II is the most addictive game ever made.
It is considered the best hack and slash game currently in existence in 2023.
I think you don't see this in many other game genres that a year 2000 game is the best there is.

Oh, no thanks. Native control schemes or I'll pass.

AntiMicro is really very user-friendly. It usually only takes me a few minutes to set up all the buttons correctly and then you can save the configuration and reuse it for life in the game.
The difference with native control schemes is in my case only a three minute loss of time.

Always did. That's one of the reasons it was so awesome!

User-friendly or not, it's not native support...
