Im looking for a cheap fan controller that wont 'dim' my LEDS

Im looking for a cheap fan speed controller (in the UK) But I want one that onlys slows down the fans rpm's (which reduces noise) and doesnt cause my LEDs (on the fans obviously) to dim.

At the moment Im controlling the speeds from within the BIOS, but this is done by an automatic voltage drop and this makes my LEDs very dim (which isnt good when you like your PC to be lit up like an XMAS tree lol)

I would preferably like one that fits in an empty ROM bay.

Any suggestions would be great

not too sure what fan controllers dont dim the leds but the coolermaster aerogate 1 (the one i have) does dim leds to adjust the fans without dimming the lights i think you fans must have that yellow extra wire that shows the rpm

AFAIK the led's pwr comes from the same as the fan pwr so they go hand in hand, slow the fan = dim the lights, speed-up the fan = bright lights. hope this helps.

Actually, the fans I want to control do have the yellow RPM sensers fitted to them. TBH, I wasnt sure where to plug them into lol

i think its pretty hard to find a controller that would lower the speed through rpm rather than voltage, fans that have these three cables have the rpm sensor (i think the yellow ones the rpm wire it should be attached into that connector like in this image

The fans Im using are fully wired (red, yellow & black) but I also have this wire coming from them also

To achieve this you'd need to re-wire the LEDs to a seperate 12V supply from the fan motor. A lot of hassle for little gain I'd say.

They are Akasa (AK-170CRS-4RDBSC) 80mm fans with RPM sensors.

I'm not sure but some 4 wire fans are PWM controlled fans

that depends on your fans, to be honest. most LED fans use the same power for fan speed and the LED's, so theres no way to reduce one without reducing the other.

that is fan control there - you turn that with a screwdriver and that adjusts the speed. you get the same thing in PSU's to adjust voltages

Thanks guys! I can now manually change the speed of my fans with a screwdriver and keep the LEDs shining brightly
