Is 2 XFX 8800GT's better than one XFX 8800 Ultra

but seriously a gt is nearly as fast as a gtx in low rez but the gt does not perform as well as it in high rez or high aa af apps. now the ultra doesnt even have to worry about a gt being as equal it has more sp 128 it has them clocked at the same speed as the gt 1500mhz stock xfx xxx is at 1600 and it has more ram and a much better faster memory interface 386bit (gt is only 256 bit)not to mention it is a new revision of the gtx chip which allows speeds when on proper cooling of over 900mhz the gtx maxed out at 838 on dry ice. sure two gt"s will perform better than an ultra but you cant say one will beat an ultra its not true

I would just hang on the ultra m8. I reckon there is going to be a decent price drop on those things over the next few weeks and you may be able to pick up another ultra cheap... then you can sli them puppies and kick ass...

When the new nvidia card comes out, all those tech junkies will sell there ultra's and get one.. you can jump on it then... Unless you are one of the junkies!!

As you see, GTX is much faster than GT in every game, especially at high resolutions with AA/AF. Ultra would beat GT out of the hell. Two 8800GT's would match ultra. But there are few games that doesn't benefit from SLi and even gives lower performance. Also two 8800GT's would suck more power, heat and noise generated from those sucky heatsinks are louder. Also with SLi you need 650/680 chipset, that are hell expensive and hot, go with P35 and one Ultra. Or better, get one GTX and overclock it.

8800GT By itself rapes the 8800Ultra some of the time so, what do you think when there are two 8800GTs?

Two 8800GTs would give you some serious bang for buck, as the Ultra is around $900, and a 8800GT setup being what... $600?

What in the world are you basing that off of tk?

The GT doesn't even 'rape' the 640 GTS sometimes. Some benches it will lose to it.

The GT is quick, but it's not a monster, and it will never topple the GTX, and the GTX is old now, using the same original architecture.

Having realtime expierence with high end hardware gives you knowledge to rule the world. Otherwise you think that GT can match Ultra. My x300SE can outperform your HD2900XT then.

ya where are all these dumb gt will beat a gtx or ultra commin from sure its a good card but people look at the bench marks from 3dmark and are like oh and ah and its bs cause 3dmark is s/m 3.0 id like to see and gt keep up in the new 3dmark where they will actually use more than what the current version will use. then the gtx and ultras will really show why nvidia didnt name it the uber goober ultra. if it was better than an ultra would they sell it for less? would they still make two more expensive cards that are worse performers. get a f***ing brain and dont make a post when you have no clue what your talking about. What is the point of stating that an OC GT will beat a GTX?

The bottom line is, the card is not a GTX killer, not even close when you get games with serious texture RAM crunches, and so far it looks like Nvidia just dropped a new color of paint in the bucket, and everyone's gone stark raving mad.

Talk about jumping the gun.

As stated thats not a game any way not dx10 not real world and no a gt oc will not beat an ultra and it wont beat a gtx it wont come par in real world apps 3dmark does not use 16x aa and look at the rex 1024x768 dude thats low the gt doesnt have the memory of the memory bandwidth to keep up you can only over clock so much you cant cange the interface or add memory. at your rez you can get either just depends on your budget the gt is not better than the gtx or ultra if it was it would be 700+

Live OR Die, 3D Marks these days isnt a substantial way to scope the actual performance of the GPUs! But yes, the 8800GT is far more worth it than a 8800Ultra.

Yer i know marks dont come down to real world gaming performance when i get my 8800GT ill will let you guys know if the card runs as good as my ultra did in 1650x1080 but i dont have my ultra any more it craped out so i got my money back thats why im looking for a new video card lol my 8400GS im using now suck balls

ok, is anyone reading these reviews for the 8800gt, look at Wiz, many of the 8800gt are being factory overclocked, and are very close to the Ultra, and at 124.00 get three of them and Smoke an ultra! LOL
Seriously though, is there any doubt other than the heat these are THE card to compeat against?

Hot card, one slot cooler etc.. need water please cool me off!!!
