Crysis received an unheard of 98 from PC Gamer (the actual game, not the demo)! What do you guys think about this rating?

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/crysis

Furthermore, what would you rank the Crysis demo as is? Voting is based on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the highest :)

from what I played in the demo? 7.5/10. It seemed like a mediocre shooter to me.

I hated it. All it is.. is another FarCry.

Oh yeah, I hated FarCry.

It has great graphics... but honestly how does that help with anything when it's just all too boring to play.

I know I'm the minority but whatever. :p

5, just due to the low performance people with $1000+ rigs are getting. Also I don't like things getting overcomplicated like Crysis does. I still play Quake from 1996 just because it's pure shooting and killing, none of this modify your weapon nonsense.

In my opinion, Crysis is 9/10, based purely on the demo. It feels like the PC version of Halo to me, the graphics/physics are astounding, even on low/medium, it plays on my old X850XT, and I can play "demolition derby" for HOURS. The suit functions are innovative, the environment is very enjoyable (have you ever killed someone with a TREE before?)...in short, I love the game.

I'll be one of the people to buy the full version of Crysis the day it comes out.

The demo left me unimpressed... I need to play the full game before forming a final opinion.

As it stands... 7/10. Great graphics, even on low/medium, but the gameplay is lacking.

as of now - I give it a 6.

Although, my vote might change once I have the retail version, considering some of the features that will be there - like the supposed fighting in 0g and whatnot.

So far though, it's pretty, but still a typical FPS.

I thought the gameplay was terrible but the suit and a few other ideas compensated so it was better. I agree with the farcry comment but Farcry was was better and a more polished game.

I give it a 7/10. Gameplay wasn't too bad, just could have been polished a little more. All other aspects of the game, replayibility, graphics, sound are great, but everyone knows, graphics don't have to be lifelike to be a great game.

Great graphics obviously, although that isn't a large selling point for most people. Honestly, this games scales very well and the people who complain that it plays like crap are simply being too over-zealous with their quality options. Turn the quality down and your performance will be fine, even if your machine is a few years old.

Great gameplay:
I like how the land is so huge and you can explore. You don't have to take a certain way to reach an objective. You could drive in with a stolen jeep. You could hijack a boat and attack from the shore. You could swim in with cloak mode on and pick guys off one by one. You can set up explosive or mines and then lure guys out to kill them. You can go into the base through the front door, or climb the huge mountain behind it armed with a sniper rifle and rocket launcher.

Your cover is destructable - so you can't hide behind that cardboard box forever. The enemies are smart enough to blow it to bits. The bad guys also will grenade you and try to flank you at every opportunity. The AI isn't faultless, but at least the soldiers aren't mindless drones.

You are certainly not indestructible. Even though the suit is powerful, it isn't overwhelming, so there is still a challenge to the game and you can still die if you don't make the best use of the suit functions. That adds a different tactical element to the gameplay, which makes the game more than "run and gun".

The environment certainly will be varied. In the full game you will have lush jungle and beaches, but also indoor labs and frozen glaciers.

There are vehicles - jeeps, boats, speedboats, hovercrafts, tanks, a helicopter, a NUKE tank...

Seriously, what isn't to like?

I agree totally. Let's put it this way, after an hour playing the beta I got bored and stopped, never to pick it up again. Exactly the same thing happened after 1 hour of playing the demo. I put it on the hardest difficulty and enemies took so many shots to kill it was unbelievable but this was OK, because you yourself are practically invincible. Just hide behind a rock for a couple of seconds and watch all your health go to full again.... Too much like an Xbox game for my liking.

It depends HOW you play the game.

It's up to YOU to make the game fun. It's not going to be linear or force-feed things down your throat.

Like I said earlier, instead of running and gunning why not:
Climb up the hill behind the bad guys and pick them off
Put on stealth mode and the silencer, creep close and assasinate each guy
Get a jeep and drive through the base, causing chaos
Use a boat to attack from the sea
Swim around the island and attack that way

If you just run into the base and start shooting people, then yeah it's boring. But it is YOU that is making it boring.

i would admit it can be too easy at times and the enemies can take alot of shots to kill (aim for the head much better) but i think its pretty awesome i love going in cloak mode in one small village and killing everyone then in the next punching and chock slamming everyone with strength

it is boring if you play it like a normal shooter but if you use the suits features and other tactics like davidelmo suggests it gets really fun

I love it, so so much... The suit combined with the smooth feel of the game and the involvement just build on each other. The fact that everything can be approached from multiple angles is fantastic for replay value, and it's just a lot of fun. At the moment I give it a 9.

BTW, has anybody tried sprint-jumping (in sprint mode) off of that cliff where you first get into daylight, if you get it right then go into shield and land on a roof, and then cloak you have an awesome strategic position...

When the quality settings are turned down, it's just another shooter. All it really has going for it IMHO are the great graphics, which most folks have to turn down to maintain playable frames. Otherwise it's just..another...shooter.

In all honesty, STALKER looks and plays much better on my system.

I would like to add that I'm really saddened by this - I've been waiting for this game with bated breath since hearing about it's development a few years ago.
