i found (through vr-zone) that in austria the d 3850 256mb gonna cost only 150 euros http://www.diskontcomputer.com/Hard...HD3850_PCI-E__256MB_2DVI-I_TVO_DC_191657.html!!! while the 512mb 176 euros http://www.diskontcomputer.com/Hard...HD3850_PCI-E__512MB_2DVI-I_TVO_DC_191658.html

the germans gonna have the hd 3870 512 ddr4 for only 219 euros http://www.e-shop24.com/oxid/index....a47355df767dc79.16886064&campaign=gat&mc=2not enough cheap if they want to compete a 8800 gt.But i think there isn't gonna be any availability issues for ati like nvidia haves .

from what i can see ati hd 3850 gonna be fast and quite cheap but i cant say the same for hd 3870 let's hope is faster than the 8800gt

p.s. i want to see how much there gonna cost in america (i bet lower than europe :shadedshu)

To be honest, I am becoming more and more skeptical about release prices for graphics cards, certainly in the UK/Europe, the quoted price for the 8800GT 512MB was $249 US, most cost more than that in the States and in the UK, most cost around £170 which equates to around $355 US!!!!

What retailers advertise as a price before they actually receive the cards in my experience is often NOT what the final price is when they have the cards in their hands to sell to consumers, there are still websites in the UK advertising 8800GT's for £130........problem is they have never had a single card to sell so it dont mean much!

Wait another 2 weeks or so, the 8800GT right now is overpriced due to limited supplies, should drop to around £130 by then, the 3870 should be a sub £150 card as well.

I've got a thread up in the deals section about the 8800 I've pre-ordered at £129...which has dropped a quid and hopefully will be with me by the end of the month!

We get ripped off so badly especially because of the ridiculous exchange rate.

Still if they are sub £150, then I'll be gettin 2 of em :)

We wont know for sure until both cards sit in a decent reviewers PC but I will put this months wages on the 8800GT winning, and I am not saying that because I have any preference for either manufacturer. One bench of the cards I did read posted here had the 8800GT a little ahead but the comment was that the ATi had better IQ.........I take it all with a pinch of salt, you can sort the IQ out in one driver release, it takes a number of driver releases usually to boost performance considerably but you only need to look how well ATi did with the driver updates for the 2900XT to see how well performance really can be increased through good driver support over about 4 releases, and anyways, even though the 8800GT has been on some shelves for all of 2 weeks we are still on the first real set of drivers for it so there is a way to go before we will know the final outcome.
