With the mercury on the drop, it's gala time for overclockers to utilize nature's greatest gift to them....the Winter. With even the stock-cooler/heatsink, a great deal of OC'ing can be done with lesser worries of a burn-out.

Share with us, your OC plans for this winter be it any component...CPU, Video-card, memory or even your case-fans.

Lol, I'm actually in the middle of modding a dual window fan with ducting and an attatchment for the front of my Antec 900. It's 10f here right now.

Is that cool enough for you to unplug the CPU fan and let it cool passively with just the heatsink on? It could reduce noise great deal.

What the hell is all this supposed to mean?!
My guess:
Athlon64 X2 (Stock 2.60 GHz) + OC = 2.90 GHz
Crucial DDR2 533 + OC = 667 MHz

Don't worry. When it's scorching summer here, you'll get to laugh your ass out at us;)

Besides the place where I live, the peak summer temp is 127 F so you're all the more lucky, mate.

Well it goes to subzero F temps or under -20C every winter here, so just opening a window will bring some very fresh air to the floor where my computer is :) under -22F or -30C would be no suprice either some day in new years or after. Not really so much plans, but surely some own record would be nice, like 3.6GHz hit & run. I'm now running 1.3625V on core, so it would be 1.4375V at least, if I remember correct that +0.0125V brings 100MHz more.

Just sounds a bit too low, remember going close to 1.4V when I tried to get 3.2GHz stable and it was not worth the extra heat. But yes, Winter is OC time and summer is dropping overclocks or going stock (eww, had to do that last summer).

Will definitely do some OC when I get my new GPU, have to try and brake my 3DMark records. Got 10k broken in 03 with 6800le, then 20k with my current card (with the help of core 2 duo) so 3DMark03 over 25-30k maybe? 3DMark05 over 15k and 3DMark06 magical 10k would be super sweet.

Last night I fell asleep with the window open by accident and was absolutely freezing when I woke up. My Q6600 with close to 1.4v was idling at 24C and my 8800GT was idling at about 34C. I left a benchmark running and 10 minutes later my room was nice and toasty again =)

OrbitzXT: nice :D Our house is heated with electricity, so my computer acts as a nice heater in wintertime. Colder it gets, the better it is to game or OC to keep room warm =)

Ah that sounds awful Drunken, to each his own I guess. I love the cold since its usually easier to get out of than sweltering heat in the summer.

Which is the best heater of them all? Pentium D 961 (Stock 3.6 GHz, 800 FSB, TDP? You could draw enough heat from this using heat-pipes, convey to a steel-plate, boil eggs. How does this not feature into the extensive and bloated list of Pentium D 's specs?
