Lower 3DMark06 score. Is it due to drivers?

Right guys. Ive got my HD3870 CrossFire setup up and running and Ive noticed something:

"my HD2900XT CrossFire setup scored better in 3DMark06!"

Now Im thinking this is due to bad drivers atm, but these are my scores so far:

HD2900XT X-Fire setup = 16462 (CPU @ 3.33GHz)

HD3870 X-Fire setup = 16204 (CPU @ 3.4GHz)

BTW, the CPU's being at slightly different speeds make very little difference (if any tbh)

So do we all agree that the current HD3870 drivers are a bit poor and these cards are only going to get better

PS: my games seem to run a bit smoother now (Crysis runs sweet, apart from X-Fire still not working on it lol)

water cooling CPU and GPU's and BIOS mods will take you to 20k, on a PCI-e 2.0 motherboard....

Benchmark Scores nah
it might be the drivers or it might be that the 3870 are (in some cases) slower than the 2900 xt

Yeah, every time I see a super high 3dmark score, it's usually on a 2900xt, too bad they are only good at running 3dmark, HAH!

You got it. ;)

EDIT: Only that I can play COD4, GOW, Jericho and Bioshock at max, and Crysis on high (with some slowdowns here and there).:p

Overclocked, the 2900XT benefits from the extra 256bits on the memory bus. Hopefully the new 8 cats will fix all your problems.

well i bought an HD 3850 yesterday, for cheaper than i had originally paid for my x1600xt two years ago...and i'm looking at water cooling as well...so maybe a killer overclock, and BIOS mod will give me high settings in crysis..if not, medium is fine...i game at 1280x1024

i think the card needs volts to go up there to be honest.. i think the only real difference (memory and cooler apart) from it and its big brother is volts..

I hope we can breakk the overclock wall of 860 soon, its really annoying because the 3870 had a limit around that area as well

The BIOS is up on TPU to get past this 'hurdle', but I dont know how to flash the card with it :(
