I just thought it would be a good idea to have seperate intel/amd sections at the top of the motherboards and overclocking forum section.

It would be easier for new members to find and/or post problems for a specific platform. All the threads in that section are in a mix of amd or intel related questions/posts.Maybe we could have seperate amd/intel sections at the top and general motherboard/overclocking questions/post in the bottom section were all the posts in the section are now.

What do you guys think?

if the overclocking and cooling section was divided into Intel/amd/cooling that wouldn't be bad. but we dont want to overkill with organization either. makes it harder for people to navigate around the forums. but i support this... for now

how so? this would just organize the forums more so that amd problems are in one subforum and intel in the other

There are other forums that do this and its not complicated at all. While I don't think its necesary, I don't think it'll hurt either.

yes but anyone flaming in the sections would be told not to.

I think its a good idea instead of the jumbled up intel/amd posts as it is now.It would be easier to find info or answers for a specific platform rather than searching or trolling through lots of threads looking for something related to your hardware.

I fell this could be a great addition to the Oc forums, also as I have seen in other forums, possibly a breakdown of sockets as well. Seems like the better its divided the easier to locate the info needed.

Great idea tigger, I for one am completely behind this!

No new forum.

Why?

REASON 1: Because where do all the other motherboards go? e.g. nVidia chipset, VIA chipset, etc. And a forum for each is overkill.

REASON 2: If we start brand differentiation on ONE forum, where will it stop? Forums for each brand for each hardware component? Overkill.

I like the idea of seperating out by intel/amd

on the idea of seperaing by CPU socket . . . only for those sockets that stretch across a vast array of CPUs models, i.e. Intel's socket 775

i can see what you're saying but the forums get harder to navigate with all the extra sublevels, and then general topics like "intel overclocking guide" wouldn't really have a place to go. and then each sub-sub-forum would have less threads in em and stuff.

If you dont think it would be easier with seperate section than a big jumble of threads on multiple platforms/subjects fair enuff.

It wouldnt be sub/sub/sub.it would be a main motherboards/overclocking section, with a intel/amd/other sections at the top.specific question/posts go in the relevant section and general questions/posts would be in the main secton were all the posts/questions are now.

why is that so complicated? you go into the motherboard section, then into the amd/intel/other section for whatever hardware you have.

And its just 3 sublevels per maker....that doesnt seem so hard to do. When I say others thats the 3rd subforum. I think it is a great idea personally , as tigger says less to root through, if you are runnin 939 and all amd is together. Not saying we need to be like other forums, but it seems to work well in others!

i dont like the idea

reasoning its the way its seperated on a lot of other forums
-this is bad because this leads to ppl who only read the intel or amd sections which means they DONT visit the other very often
-if you want to be like everyone else visit one of the forums that is set up like that
-it leads to branding if one is posted in more than the other the forum starts to look like it leans one way and you loose the people from the other company

So its better as a jumbled mass of general motherboard related threads then?

Surely its better to have seperate sections,it not only makes the forum look more organized,it also makes it easier for people to find info regarding their platform to find it easier.

do you realize how many other forums have seperate intel/amd sections? i guess they are all wrong then.

I visit a lot of forums, tpu primarily, and it is easier to find specific information and looks better when they have seperate sections. If w1zzard decides it is a good idea then fair enuff,if not fair enuff.

If a noobie comes to the forum,do you think he is gonna want to browse through lots of mixed threads looking for relevant info? it might be a put off and he might end up in a differant forum which has seperate sections which would be easier for noobies to find what they are looking for.

I say yes, it true that theres jumbled mass of general motherboard related threads

cuz it well make it easyer from someone to get help and not get there thread over looked as theres many threads that some dont get the help as not everyones good with both AMD and Intel so the ppl that are good with AMD go there and same for Intel

It should be like this for every make ATI/NVIDIA, AMD/Intel

Just the Main Brand not every model of it

Yes. I think it's a good idea, 'cause AMD and Intel motherboards all Overclock differently....
